What's the funniest most unusual baby name?

Nurses Humor Nursing Q/A

As many of you know by now, Kim Kardashian had her baby. As if you couldn't miss all the annoying coverage over every single detail. They named that poor kid North West. What are some of the funniest/weirdest/most unusual baby names you have seen? Could be a patient or someone you know in your personal life. And if you are someone with one of those odd names did you just learn to live with it or would you change it.

Zlatan. I've met a Zlatan. His name bugs me because I shiver and feel weird when two letters are placed together that are not usually placed together.

I have two friends who's boys are named Zeegan James and Kiian Kaze.

I had a class my first semester of college with a girl named Kenyatta.

Some high school acquaintances, Zarai (Zara-eee), Xiochilt (So-shee), and Maya-Lis (Pronounced Miley)... she usually went by Maya though.

Also, my youngest sister is named Saryn. My dad works with chemical munitions.

Shithead pronounced 'Shi-teed'

Jeanicha and her twin sister Jeanacha

Was just reading through the comments and realized someone already put Shithead up, apparently it's common, who would know.

Specializes in General.

I worked with a nurse who's name was Tomorrow. I thought it was a lovely name.

Wasn't that the name of Steve Martin's dog in "The Jerk"?

Urban legends are all OVER this board. Some going back ten, fifteen years based on my own memory!

Considering the sheer number of people who claim to have personal knowledge of some absolutely ridiculous name(s), wouldn't you think at some point these "babies" will have gone to school, be out in the world? And yet people who have researched this EXACT question have found that no, there are no birth records with these names, schools do not have students with these names, etc etc.

No evidence exists of anyone with a legitimate birth certificate for Shithead. Really.

I just took a look at Snopes.com, and found some of it traces back to racist jokes early in the 20th century....it was apparently funny to think that the poor ignorant black woman didn't know what the word "lady parts" or "meconium" or "eczema" was and it was good for a laugh.

Until some school can show the birth certificate for enrolled students and point to a set of twins they correctly identify as Lemonjello and Orangello, lol, I won't buy it!

Specializes in Pediatrics, High-Risk L&D, Antepartum, L.

I think many of these aren't true. The I once knew somebody who knew somebody...whatever.

The names I listed...people I knew personally or names used on the labor floor where I work. I could list the names my mom (former L&D nurse) heard or I heard somebody else heard of...but I listed only the names I saw with my own eyes or met personally. Sadly...these exist.

One pt had the VERY BEST name, first & last. It should have been on a vaudeville marquee for a burlesque queen.

But because of that D@#$ HIPAA, I just can't reveal. It would be just my luck.... So sorry!

EXACTLY what I was thinking, as I had a patient with a very unusual name---and I KNOW it was her name, as she was my patient! But no, I wouldn't dare POST that name. Asking for trouble ;)

Specializes in Cardiac.

The name isn't odd, but the spelling "Brittknee"?

Dorcus is a name from the Bible. We had a family in our church who named all their children after cars. Mercedes, Lincoln, Toyota, and Chrysler. Plus a child that had the name L-a pronounced la dash a!!
