What's the first thing you'll buy when you're officially an RN?

Saw this thread in the Male Nurse forum and thought it was a great idea. What is the first thing you'll do in terms of purchases when you're officially a nurse. I would like to start heavily paying off my student loans, save up for a house, and get weekly pedicures! What about you?

After graduating from nursing school and passing the nclex, I went on vacation to Vegas with my girlfriends!

Right now I am looking for a job. After I get a job, I am going to buy a new car and then start paying off those crazy student loans.

A limo ride and overnight stay at NYC so I can have a GNO on broadway. That's my first short term thing. Then clothes, because at 33 (when I graduate), I should probably dress like a grown up in clothes that come from nicer places than Target.

Longer term, Disney (my kids will be 6 and 8 when I graduate and I'm totally going to save up to stay at Animal Kingdom), and a house.

Disney for my kids is number 1, a long weekend to Vegas is number 2, and a new-to-me car is number 3. After that, I'd like to start saving as much as I can and maybe do 1 longish vacation per year, or a couple long weekends with the family. We live alright off my husband's paycheck, so mine will just make things more secure and have the means to do more fun/optional activities.

1. A new to me car since mine will be ~13 yrs old when I graduate. 2. Disney for my boys (one will be 2 soon & the other will be 5 at the end of this year!) 3. Paying off loans & saving for my msn degree. 4. The boys college funds & other savings. 5. Building our dream home.

I'm applying this month for fall so fingers crossed! I'll only have a year left if I get accepted!

the most expensive sethoscope on the market. tired of cheap sethoscopes that keep falling apart.

When I am finished with the program, pass the nclex, and get a job......(wow that sounded like a lot of things to do.)

Anyway, I will go on a much needed vacation, renovate our house, and finally buy my husband that Ducati he has always wanted.

I've got my self a pair of $6 tennis shoes from Forever 21. I know the feeling.

Wow - What a wonderful wife you are :)

For me I will be heading to Cambodia to do volunteer work, then saving the rest to help pay Med School for my lovely fiance.

Buy my husband a new car (I got one last year), put some work into the house to have it ready to sell by spring next year, buy a new home with a fenced in backyard for my furrbabies, hot tub, pedicures twice a month, new furniture, an RN decal for my care (might get me out of a few speeding tickets, don't judge me, lol), new scrubs, new clothes and shoes, and a few new books for my Kindle (gosh I miss that thing!)

New house, new car, new clothes and a trip to Yellowstone!

Well, my hubby is set to start school this Fall and I will finish in May 2013...so I think our first purchase will be a family vacation. Aside from Disney when our oldest was about 12 months, we have not really taken any family vacations....And we have 4 kids! Im thinking we will hit the beach, Sea World, Disney, or possibly visit NC as we hope to relocate there eventually.

Aside from that, I really need a new SUV! We are currently driving an OLD(meaning 1995) van. It has it's issues but luckily has been somewhat reliable.

Also, we'd like to save a good bit of money for the kids and for a house(we own our house now but again we want to relocate to NC eventually so we need a downpayment :)

1st: A coach purse to celebrate my first pay check as a professional.

Next: My kids each a new toy that they normally would only get for a birthday or Christmas.

And Then: My hubby a pair of Costa del mar sunglasses.

Nursing school and all the sacrifices it entailed was a family affair and my first job as a nurse will be a family accomplishment.

Then as soon as I've saved up for my first really big purchases:

I can't wait to take our family on a vacation, I'm thinking Disney World. And then to save up for a down payment on a house.

And I plan to change my lifestyle:

I'm getting regular mani/pedi's, hair coloring and cuts, and eyebrow waxing. I'm so tired of looking scraggly and I will need to look well groomed and professional. And I'm going to have someone clean every week or two so I can finally relax when It's my off day. I can't wait to be freed from the mountain of laundry and constant disorder of nursing school.
