Which brand and why? For some reason, I've tried NB, Adidas and my feet still hurt!!!! Maybe I need to buy those gel soles or something..

i still wear docs! (a left-over from my youth..) they do take some wearing in, but they live forever and get so comfortable..

i've also had great success with a pair of planet shoes mary janes. seriously comfy sole, and really roomy, but after 7 months the fastening strap split and broke, and after a year the soles have split. shame, i adored them..

I gotta agree with you about the Z-coils; mine are 3 years old and I'm in the market for new; is there a website that shows prices? Cuz if there is, I can't find it, and I have to drive 140 miles round-trip to buy them.......

I didn't find a web site for the only store in Nebraska but they do have link to an e-mail address on the company web site. The store will also do mail order. If you have any plans to go to the State Fair the store has had a booth there with shoes for sale the past couple of years. Good luck.

Thanks, km5v6r;, I travel to Sioux Falls, SD for mine, but thanks so much for checking; yes, nurses are an awesome bunch!

Crocs!!!! I used to wear New Balance Walking Shoes with a gel insert and my back felt great....but my feet were taking a beating! I would wake up with stiff feet and my achilles tendon was so tight I thought I'd snap it if I took a full stride step. Since switching to the Crocs everything feels wonderful! I never thought they would have enough support but they have been a real life saver......errrrr......foot saver! :D

Hello all,

Hmmm, well, $500 later, I am now on Asics, which I love.

I think my situation is that my body changed from childbirth and weight gain. Dansko's were not wide enough for my feet and I ended up with shooting nerve pain from mid foot to toe. Merrils also ended in foot pain for me. My Timberlands were always my mainstay in "times of foot trouble" however even those now hurt. One day in my Birkis and I was back off to the store for a refund. After changing shoes soooooo many times in the past 7 months I now have an achilles tendonitis, which is healing nicely.:)

Sooooo, in retrospect, continue to listen to what people say; and wear your shoes around your home for a few days. Also save your receipts. I think all stores will let you bring back your shoes with a receipt if things don't work out well for your feet. I finally started doing aerobics--at home on carpet--in my shoes to figure out what would work for me. I guess it's kinda different, but this worked for me.

As far as my other shoes, I either gave them away or found another way to work with them. For example, I learned I could wear my Dansko's around my house without socks and without further foot pain. My Timberland and Saucony pairs will probably find their way to someone else's feet. Meanwhile, I will find my way to a podiatrist.

One of the best things about my whole shoe (foot pain) experience has ended up being a return to exercising and a discovery of my need for proper body alignment/balance. I have developed an enjoyment for beginner pilates and am returning to my younger physical activities.

I actually like the imitation crocs that I paid $14.99 for. I will probably buy some of the ones w/out the holes from www.allheart.com They are so cheap compared to the crocs.
