Let's do something fun! Everybody on allnurses.com has a very interesting and unique username. What is the back story of your username? Mine is just like it states, "Life's a Journey!"
Uhhh... Mine is my name lol and the year I was born... nothing too origional there... usually I go by Big Momma. I was given that nice name about 6 years ago by a friend of mine because all of the children in the neighborhood always came to me to play and hang out (it was a rough area and alot of the parents could be neglectful so I stepped in and made sure all the kids were fed and cared for over the summer months and looked after). So one of my neighbors called me Big Momma (I guess because I am plus sized for the big part). I really liked being called that and still allow people to call me Big Momma to this day, even my daughter has called me big momma before. LOL I guess I should have gone with BigMomma82 but thats okay. Interesting thread, I really like reading about what peoples screen names mean and why they use them :)
Meriwhen is the name of a character from a science fiction novel. No, the character isn't a nurse/healer/wizard/nurturer of any kind, or even a human being. Meriwhen is a small work horse who's the companion of the hero. I just liked the name :)
My favorite character when I was younger was Aeon Flux [and no, not the Charlize Theron version] and my favorite player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when I was in high school was Mike Alstott [#40]. I used this screen name on a website or two and now it's just stuck with me wherever I go ^_^
For those who want more info on Aeon Flux:

I loved watching Aeon flux when I was younger. It was weirdly nonsensical, but perfect. :)

OH! How I've waited for someone to ask this question! You're gettin' a kudo from me, LifesAJourney, just for asking!
I've often wondered why other Users have chosen their names and I've always wanted to tell My Story. (This is pretty damned exciting!)
Here's what I'm gonna do: I'm gonna tell My Story and then go back and Savor the Stories of Others!
My Story begins in March 2006. I was riding my Single Speed bicycle to a nearby town. The round trip was a total of 35 miles. Getting there was relatively easy, with the wind at my back. But on the return trip, the gusty winds blew. They gusted up to 25 mph if they didn't gust up higher.
Bicycling, for me, is an excellent time to think, recall, or come up with ideas.
I have kept illustrated journals of My Life and Times dating back to the 70's. I'll often equate a Personal Event with a Universal One. I thought of the Children's Story, "Winnie-the-Pooh and the Blustery Day" and wondered what I could call myself in the place of Winnie-The-Pooh in this situation. My name is, actually, Dave Douglas. So, I came up with Davey-The-Do in comparison to Winnie-The-Pooh. I mentioned this event to a Co-Worker and she began referring to me as "Davey Do". I liked it so much, and the name stuck.
However, I'm also known as "Davern" (day-vern) at work. When I registered at AN.com, it wouldn't accept Davern. So I went with Davey Do.
This may have been long and boring for you, but it was good for me.
Thanks, LifesAJourney.
Dave

My username represents me completely and I believe that one should be able to work in a humane and safe environment which does not seem to be the case these days. I have been known to leave a place in a heartbeat if things aren't the way they should be, and I advise others to do the same if they want to keep their licenses, lol
