What type of nursing do you want to specialize in?

I would like to do Pediatrics, probably in a doctor's office.

"No! I don't wanna get a shot! I don't wanna get a shot!" ;)

NP with AAHIVS and Derm.

Or CRNA.

I want to be an acute care pediatric nurse ( possible even NNP) or cardiothoracic nurse. As long as I am working in an ICU I would be happy.

I'm not sure. I like kids a lot, so I'm leaning toward pediatrics. I've also always been fascinated by the process of pregnancy and birth, so I'd like working in obstetrics too, although I know to be a nurse midwife you need a master's, soon to be a PhD.

I will probably always live in a small town so I'm not sure how much opportunity to specialize there will actually be.

Really love my rotation at NICU as well as L&D. I'm somewhat torn between the two. But my ultimate goal is a nurse practitioner.

I would love to work in NICU or pediatric CICU. Both are very hard areas to get into. Another possibility is an infusion nurse. I will just see where my schooling leads me :)

It is not true that CNM (Certified Nurse-Midwife) will soon need a PhD. ACNM does NOT support the change and they have released several notices on their stance that they feel a masters degree is sufficient for entry-level midwifery. Just an FYI.

I'm on the path to CNM, so I pay close attention to this. ;-)

Labor and delivery or pediatric er and then later on down the line crna

The most common you hear are CRNA (that's about as common as pre-meds saying they want to be surgeons) because of the pay, peds, L&D and ED or ICU.

Most people will start in med-surg, mother/baby or NICU.

I wanted ED when I was in school.

TO THE OP: Most clinics or doctors offices are staffed by LPNs or MA, sometimes RNs are present but going this route will hurt your career especially if you want to do it right after school as clinic work isn't considered acute care....
