Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

I'm tired of "oh, the Republicans are evil" (clutches pearls) and "oh the Democrats are evil", (clutches pearls).
On one side, we have J6. When I go to work and ask both patients and coworkers, most shrug and don't care about the hearings or outcomes. Most are Dem in voting nature (as they discussed openly during elections). As 1 former Navy Seal put it, none of the insurrectionists had guns/weapons. Not much of an insurrection threat. I see his point. If I were going to overthrow a government, I'd have some kind of fire power/threat with me. Still, it's a very ugly stain, not a good look for our country. But...I think DJT, friends, and family made some serious $$$ off of the backs of lots of Americans through some shady deals. Yes, many politicians do it, but I agree that he took it to a whole new level.
On the other hand, there are stories of Hunter Biden peddling back door access to the Big Guy, as VP. Concerning, as one of the countries involved (China) is not a friend of ours. Is this a security concern? And now Ukraine is in a war, and odd thing there: various politicians traveling there, never saw them in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, etc. War is war, no war is safer to visit.
So, while people are pointing fingers, from an outside, nonpartisan view, EVERYBODY has quite a bit of dirt, no one should point fingers or claim this one's worse than that one. Right now, I can't think of a politician who has very much of my respect!
ETA: the Dems are looking at who to run in 2024, as Biden/Harris are so low in the polls, they're not considered viable options at this time. That may change, who knows. Other considered have their own bags of issues. Openly discussed on MSNBC and CNN. Republicans looking at who is viable, as Trump is known to be polarizing, and others have their own bag of issues. Openly discussed on FOX and NEWS NATION.
Don't you think it's a problem when Americans don't care about the abundant evidence that an angry and armed mob of organized anarchists, racists, white nationalists and white supremacists was intentionally coalesced into an attack on the capitol to install Trump as president? Your patients don't care but why that should make you feel like it's no big deal is a mystery.
Ohhh.... there are stories about Hunter Biden....ohhh nooo. I mean, Trump is a liar with a history of telling stories about people he considers to be opponents or enemies and none of the stories have much attached in the way of actual provable fact or evidence, but Hunter...ooohhh nooo. Meanwhile you seem to be skeptical of the actual facts and evidence of Trump's broad disregard for our laws or our republic published in a credible and convincing manner.
Probably politicians didn't want to travel to the country that THEY started a war with over something that Saudi nationals planned and executed... so they didn't use it much for photo ops.
Certainly any politician who participated in or excused the attempt to overthrow the elected government shouldn't get your respect but your comments read as though you are happy to make excuses for their activity, minimize the dangerous importance of the plot and deflect to other politicians or political intentions as if what happened in 010621 was just normal political discourse for modern Republicans.
It seems like you aren't listening to the Select Committee hearings.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I never said I didn't care about J6, I was pointing out that the general public does not. I'm not making excuses, you are choosing to read into whatever you choose. More than ince, I've said that DJT and his ilk are slimeballs. Wouldn't vote for him for any amount of money.
Again, you can't ignore the sins of one administration and not acknowledge the other. I guess actually you can, but you shouldn't. If the stories about HB and his dad, the sitting president are remotely true, the potential for national security issues is astounding. But, you do you. As you are entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine

I can’t disagree with many of your observations. But before we label the Hunter Biden mess as “just as bad” show me where he has been appointed as a paid White House advisor or put in charge of the fed’s multi-million dollar response to a major pandemic. Or entrusted with negotiating peace in the Middle East. Heck … how’s about publishing all that incriminating info that supposedly exists on a hard drive nobody has seen yet.
I agree that corruption and nepotism are thoroughly bipartisan and need to be called out. But arguing from a false equivalency is just a particularly dishonest way to minimize accountability.

I agree. I'm all for bringing it all into the light, regardless of administration. My issue with HB is that he was possibly selling access to his dad. I'd love to see the hard drive, well except the nude Media pics. Gross. But the FBI, run by the Biden administration, keeps saying "nothing to see here" I'm not buying it. As far as Trump's kids, they deserve the same scrutiny and punishments. What's good for 1 family is just as good for the other. I have 0 problem with that. Anyone who jeopardizes our national security, or makes sweet deals with enemies, needs exposed and dealt with. I couldn't care less the political affiliation or last name. Wrong is wrong...
ETA: any sweet deals made with friendly countries is up for scrutiny, too. Tired of seeing corruption that sucks the hard earned money of the American tax payer and gives power to those who have no business wielding it!

What sins am I ignoring? The stories about Biden are just stories at this point, promoted by the same guy and his sycophants who brought us birther bullcrap and asked Russia to interfere in our election before he tried to bully the newly elected Ukrainian president into getting involved in our political dialogs. They are stories about children of a president... adult children who are/were not a portion of the administration... while the media enamored by the stories ignored the actual corrupt behavior of Trump family while having white house positions. That seems suspect, don't you think?
IF those Biden stories are true I'll be upset, but so far the stories are just stories told in conservative media rather than talking about the actual evidence that Trump and republican politicians and activists tried to overthrow your government in January of 2021. No one said you weren't entitled to your opinion, I'm just questioning the basis for your opinion.

Selling access to the father... like the Trump family?
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/12/us/politics/donald-trump-business-interests.html
It just seems odd that while the Trump's were grifting directly from white house access there was so little concern voiced by conservatives about this sort of thing. Suddenly, the talk is about equal opportunity scrutiny but the focus of the suddenly interested is laser focused upon the Biden's (a story) and not the Trump's (obvious evidence). It doesn't appear that "wrong is wrong" when there's such an obvious difference.

If you read my post it does say that they should be subject to the same scrutiny and punishments that any other administration and their families and friends. Very plainly. Like many others, I'm tired of the "entitlements" that many in politics receive, while others struggle

And so, in my view, we should be focused upon bringing the obvious and blatant behaviors to justice before fretting over claims and stories of wrongdoing that, to date, are about as well substantiated as claims of election fraud or stolen elections (and pushed by the same media voices). Sure, investigate the hell out of that Biden story...but until there is something "there" we should focus on the clear and present law breaking and threat to our republic. Or maybe you can cite some evidence for me to read.
Don't lose the signal in the noise.

We hope, but we all know, especially in the recent political scene, that it's not necessarily true. This is why I don't trust much of anything coming out of DC anymore, about anyone in politics. It seems like most of those folks would shank their own mom for a buck, and throw their nearest and dearest under the bus and stomp the gas, just to stay in favor.
I feel the same way about some of my own state and local politicians as well as I've actually seen them in action

So this comment on the FBI being run by the Biden administration didn't mean anything? You thought the same about the FBI with the same director before Jan 2020?

This is where I am with politics. Just when one side starts stomping and pointing fingers at the opposite side, something just as bad comes out about their side.
