Rockets & feathers (actual term is asymmetric passthrough). When oil prices rise, price at the pump shoots up like a rocket. Whereas, when oil prices decline, the pump price lowers like a feather. Floating down slowly.
However, it seems that the lowering of pump pricing seems to be connected to the amount of competition in a local area. This is what I believe is behind biden’s request to gas stations to lower their prices.
Warren has spoken many times about the correlation between monopolies & inflation. Here’s a paper that addresses that concept as it applies currently.

We need more studies like this to prove what we all intuit anyway: the rich are getting getting richer creating more economic polarization.  But what is the alternative?  How can be control the worst aspects of capitalism?  It certainly has been an interesting past couple of years with the economy disobeying many things we thought were immutable.  I don't think it's even possible to control an economy beyond little tweaks here and there because it's so intertwinced with politics.

There is nothing wrong with skepticism. Very few things having to do with the economy are just a simple demand and effect, or are directly influenced by the chief executive.

Skeptics don't put people like Trump in office.  Skepticism is what keeps us away from conspiracy theories which are populated almost entirely by people who want to be led.

Gas was DOWN to $4.69 Regular at PA pump today --40 cent decrease in ONE week.

I think you're wrong, and that it is the other way around:

Trump got into office because so many people were skeptical of the way things were going, and they wanted to believe that Trump was different enough, and they hoped he was as good as his word.

Skepticism of the US Government is what drove people into clustering into conspiracy groups which took on Trump as their savior. Talk about people being led!!
