Having just recently graduated last December, I have yet to subscribe to any nursing journals. I look over my nursing notes/books when a topic comes up that I need to review. I would like to stay current of new nursing info that comes out. Any ides?:nuke:

I'm interested to know what others will say too. One of the things that I really like is Medscape Nurses http://www.medscape.com/nurses. I subscribe to their nursing email newsletter and i've gotten a lot of good information from them.

Advance Magazine for nurses has a free publication for both, LPNs and RNs. The magazines are sent monthly, and it has regional information on there (you can get emails as well, rather than, or in addition to the magazine). Also, if you are an RN, you can obtain a free subscription to the Nursing Spectrum. Other nice ones are the Incredibly Easy quarterly journals, Nurse2008, or maybe a journal on your specialty.

I get AJN, Nursing2008, RN and Men in Nursing. I'm probably going to let MIN and RN expire without renewing. I really do enjoy AJN and N2008. And Lord knows I'm always in my textbooks!
I've never heard of Advance or Spectrum. Do you know offhand if they're available for students?

When I worked in the ER I received the Journal of Emergency Nursing. I now do IV therapy with an emphasis in Oncology and there are several magazines catering to these specific practices. Plus the ones named in previous post. What area of nursing are you in? There are web sites for the nursing specialty organizations(ie..Emergency nurses assoc., Oncology Nurses Assoc,)and they usually have some of the magazines listed on their website. Hope this helps.

Nursing 2008, LPN 2008, JCN (Journal of Christian Nursing).
Google in nursing journals and you'll get so much information!! Also, if you want, add your specialty to the google: pediatric nursing jounals and that will narrow it down. www.lww.com has lots of journals to choose from.

I belong to multiple nursing organizations and receive their publications. They offer cont ed lectures and articles. Read severa non-organization based nursing journals. Take lots of CE to keep my certifications current.

Don, I think Advance is free to senior nursing students... https://secure.advanceweb.com/RegisterNow.aspx?BRID=C74605356C8E to set that up?
I get Advance and Spectrum.
I also get the ANA and my state organization's newsletters.
Then I get Men in Nursing (okay, that's really for my husband, but I read it) and Healthcare Traveler both free from that website that gives out free business magazines based on your profile... (www.freebizmag.com)
I subscribe to Pediatric Nursing (Zanetti). And then I get the emailed newsletters from Medscape nursing, nurse.com and nursingcenter.com...
But I'm a reader.
I'd never heard of the JCN - I ordered a trial issue to check it out. Thanks

Thanks so much for this information. Unfortunately, it turns out that I live in an area not covered by any of the print editions, but I did sign up for the email edition. Thanks again!
Does your hubby like Men In Nursing? I've subscribed since it's inception, but there really is very little to do with men's issues.
