Hi! I am a new nursing student(I have only been in school for about 3months). With all of the studying that we as nursing students must do to excell in this profession, it can be physically and mentally draining at times. Just wondering- what was the one thing that you needed to have to give you energy while in nursing school? Any suggestions would be extremly helpful. THANKS!!!
God Bless!
tears...and caffiene....but a lot of tears. seemed to release stress for me
Also my nursing school had on staff a full time free therapist for the students. I never went, but just knowing someone was there to talk to if I needed it made it easier. Check out any options for coping with stress at your school, they probably have something available to students.
My family helped alot. They were encouraging and made sure I got up on time for those early morning clinicals (I had a long commute).
When I started to burn out from nursing school and got discouraged I would read the classifieds in the paper. Helped reinforce my goal that the end result would be worth the hard work. Good luck in school.
went to school while supporting my familygood golf helped
and good sex, maybe thats why we ended up having 7 kids
didnt you work out what caused the kids then?? and you a nurse........ :rotfl:
I got through training with my friends and copious amounts of alcohol!!!! But then I trained in England and our training was totally different to you........ in my first 9 weeks out of introductory block I watched 21 people die- and I can still remember the faces and names of some of them. so yep- alcohol!! :chuckle

I used to get up early to study. Made coffee and really got stuff done. I am better and sharper in the morning. It was easier than trying to stay up late.
I made sure that I had time just for me. I worked and went to school, so it wasn't easy but it was necessary. I still read novels (not as many), and saw my boyfriend and friends (not as much, but I fit them in). Once a week I went to bed super early, just to chill out and get extra sleep.
I socialized with my nursing school friends. Even if it was just lunch or a quick drink after class. We laughed, vented, etc. It was good.
Those things helped me. Don't get me wrong, I was still stressed out, but it could have been worse.

Sex is a natural high
alcohol impairs your thinking too much
some loving and cuddling warms the heart the soul and everything else
the 7 kids came because we were to poor for buying condoms :rotfl: :rotfl:

I went to nursing school so I could support my kids when I divorced my ex-husband. That kept me going, working another job and pregnant with the third child during first year of school. My marriage wasn't going anywhere and after 3 years of trying counseling I figured it would never work. I had some really awesome friends that I studied with and some really cool friends who were already nurses. I was a paramedic prior to nursing school so I had some nurses who volunteered as medics to chat with.
Becoming a nurse was going to make my life better....and it has.
Nursing is a changing field, medicine changes and so do the patient problems.
I have been a nurse for 12 years and I still love it most of the time.
