What's the minimum GPA requirement to be accepted into the nursing program at your school?

My schools minimum GPA to apply is a 3.0 but to actually get accepted in the ASN program we have to have at least a 3.5, and to get accepted into the BSN program a 3.3

What is your GPA (optional)?

The school I want to go to requires that you have completed (and passed) at least 12 college credits with a 3.0 or higher if you enter as a transfer student (which I am doing). General Ed courses must be a C or higher, Core Science courses must be a B or higher.

:)

I've taken a few of the General Ed classes when I was pursuing a degree in Business (psychology, sociology, philosophy, english, information technology) and I'm starting my science courses this Fall. I'm excited!

What classes have you taken already? Any advice?

To apply to the nursing program at my school, you have to have a 2.8 GPA in 5 pre-reqs, and a 75% on the HESI A2 exam. However, they take the top 60 applicants, out of 400, so you really need a minimum of around a 3.4 GPA, and a 90% on the HESI, depending, of course, on the other applicants that apply with you.

To apply to my BSN program, you have to have a 3.0, but to be competitive, you need at least a 3.6 and it gets higher every year. I got in for fall 2010 with a 3.875.

I believe it's a 3.0 (B-) to apply for entrance into the professional track portion. Competitive, I'm not sure, but last year the counselor told me it was 3.87.

I got in with a 3.98. But I hear there are many that were accepted with 4.0's. So I was pretty nervous.

I applied to two schools. The first was a minimum of 3.0 and it was a lottery. The second was a minimum of 3.0 but it was competitive; I was accepted with a 3.87.

The GPA to apply is only a 2.5, however to get accpeted I think you need at least a 3.0.

Well schools lie and say you can apply with a 2.75 minimum, but come one lets be serious here. You need at minimum a 3.5. With so many people competing to get into nursing programs these days you need the highest GPA you can get.

Our school's minimum gpa is 2.0 and I believe around 80 in each section of the Hesi. However, acceptance and apply are two different things. I have a 4.0 gpa and scored a 95.33% overall on the Hesi.

RB2000-What a great score and GPA, congrats on your hardwork!

My school requires a pre-req GPA of a 2.5 and a HESI of 75. However last semester the average for fall admittance was a pre-req GPA of a 3.61 and a HESI of 94.1!! Very competative, there are usually 250 applications and they take only 40-45 students!!!

We are on a point system with at least 1/4 of the points coming from an experiential assessment essay paper. If you get As in your 7 core classes and pass 4 general ed classes (in different disciplines) you get a maximum of 40 points. The essay is worth 16 points. A higher ed degree is worth 1 point. LPN is worth either 1 or 2 (can't remember). 400 hours of CNA work in the past 6 months is worth 2 points. I think the minimum is close to 44 necessary.
