To all the experienced nurses / nursing students out there… I’m wondering what tips you have for a new nursing school student? What supplemental books did you find helpful? What are the best shoes, watches, or other supplies that you’ve found? What other tips do you have for a first time nursing student? I’m admitted and looking forward to starting a nursing program Summer 2022, and want to be as prepared as possible for what is ahead! Thanks in advance for your response!

I suggest these things according to what I've been incorporating in my nursing school.
1. I read https://allnurses.com/profile/1053402-damion-jenkins/
2. I read my instructors' assigned readings. Every day. I tend to procrastinate on my homework; however, I stopped.
3. I utilize ATI. Ultimately, I still read my school's required books.
4. I listen or watch instructors' videos on Youtube who fit my learning style. I'm generally visual and doer.
5. My watch is water-resistant (can stand the pressure in less than 100 meters if submerge in the water). I bleach it before and after cleanical (clinical) either with wipes or liquid. It also matches my white shoes.
6. I have two pairs of white shoes. I forget the other brand name but highly rated by nurses on Amazon. Another shoe is Cherokee.
7. I eat and hydrate throughout the day.
8. I've tried not to stay awake. Some nights, I can't sleep and am wide awake as I just woke up. I would use this to study. If I'm a little foggy or fuzzy, I organize or clean...Anything I can do now.
9. I review (if I'm lucky). I find med-surg to be harder, but I like it.
10. Skip boyfriend(s). I broke up with my ex who kept demanding for my time unrealistically. My friends, their husbands or partners cooked for them when they were in nursing school. FYI, their spouses work, too. They advised I should dump him, and I did get rid of him. Savage.
Thanks for all the recommendations @Honyebee! I will definitely check out Damion's posts on here. Have you done any of his NCLEX courses through thenursespeak? Regarding the boyfriend advice, yes... SAVAGE.. ?

First of all, congrats. I have 2 advise for you.
1. Studying an integral part of passing the program
2. Find a support system (not family member) you need someone from your class or program. Someone that has the same goal as you and also at the same time helps you keep you sane. Why? it's going to be challenging and tough.

I have a membership with Thenursespeak dot com. I didn't finish it, but I will start it in April. My school has its own review program before the exit exam. I'd rather do it this way. I also utilize nursing dot com. The voice of the educator doesn't send me to sleep. However, the samples you can download from this website have been working for me. I've been pulling As and Bs in my nursing core classes, and I've been passing ATI and HESI no problem. I'm doing pretty good considering I was going through stressors. I actually learned to ignore annoying people in my personal life. I'm less stressed these days. I'm adapting slowly. I hope it will be like this down the road.
My ex-fiance was a good guy. He became insecure of other males. I hated it he made me choose. It was insane. I'm tired of squabbling and quarreling.
