FSCJ 2nd termer here:
Point system.....
Take all your pre-reqs (except Chem) Multiply grade (A = 4, B = 3 -> you know how this works) with the # credits the course was worth. Add together.
Schedule yourself to take the PSB-NAT at the testing center.
After you have finished the test, the monitor will give you a print out of your scores. At the top is "Raw Score" row and underneath that is "Percentile".
Look at the bottom and you will see each column identified. Fourth column is "Academic Aptitude - Total" two to the right is "Reading Comprehension" followed by "Information in the Natural Sciences". Take the Raw score at the top of each of those columns and add together. ie: 63 + 33 + 79 = 175. Take that and multiply by .64 (175 x .64 = 112). That is your NAT score the school will use.
Add your GPA score with your NAT score and that is your "points". (*IF* you have medical experience you can add 5 pts per year for up to 20 additional points.)
The class that will start in Jan (Spring 2010) had an initial cutoff of 193.52!

Our point system is really simple:
You get 3 points for an A in A&P 1,2, Micro, and math (for a B you get 2 points)
They also give so many points for GPA, how many courses you have completed, what scored you made on the preadmission nursing test. That's about it at our school. I wish they took into consideration if we had volunteer work, but they don't. Good Luck!
P.S. talk to your advisor they can tell you exactly what your school means by points.
thanks everybody!!you guys really answered my question.now i'll know how to calculate my points-i am still in my first term though!!!is anybody taking a&p 1 or 2 next term??

Basically a score sheet is used and as you go down the score sheet points are awarded based upon whether you meet that criterion. For example: A total of 25 points is possible. Currently working as CNA or in another health care position - 3pts CNA certificate - 2 pts No CNA certificate - 0 points. Very basic. Those with the highest number of points are at the top of the heap for consideration. Since there is a good likelihood that there will be several ties, then they would indicate what is the tie breaker. HTH
