What Pre Req Books have helped while in Nursing school?

Published

What books did you keep from your pre req classes that have helped you while in nursing school? I have kept all my A&P books, microbiology books, medical terminology, bioethics,.....But what about other pre req books such as stats, lifespan development, nutrition, abnormal psych, etc.

None....they were great at collecting dust in the corner of my room....but that was about it

I'm starting nursing school next week and the only book I have kept from my pre reqs is my A&P book. I've sold all the rest. I figure the A&P will probably help me out the most in nursing school. But I guess I'll find out.

Yes A&P books for sure! I am also keeping my lab manual from A&P so I can reference the location of different muscles, etc.

The only book I kept from my pre-reqs is A&P, I found this book helpful when I was doing LPN. I'm sure I'll refer to it while doing RN.

I wanted to keep a&p and micro for reference, but I also ended up keeping chem, nutrition, and med terminology because the bookstore wouldn't take them back!

Doesn't it seem like they only take back the cheap books? :-| haha

When I was taking pre-reqs I always sold those books back. Since entering the nursing program, I've kept all of the books for each semester. I'm now going into my 4th semester (out of 6) and have done just fine without the pre-req materials. I'm sure an anatomy book would be a good thing to have for a refresher, though.

I took a year of medical terminology and my classmates were surprised how I knew what so many words meant. I loaned out my book and my husband's book for them to use. The course really helped me disect words and figure out their meanings. I also used my A and P books a lot.

I kept my micro and A + P, but three semesters in I have yet to crack them open. My advice would be to sell them back...

I'm keeping my A&P book, if anything because my bookstore won't take it back lol. I plan on keeping all of my nursing books though, some people in my school actually sell those back! I don't get why especially if you're still in the program.

I have yet to open any of my pre-req books since I've started the program.

I really thought that I would use my A& P texts, but the med surg books were so good at covering all that stuff that the A&P books were not needed. I'll keep my books until I am done with school, and then sell all but my reference books and med surg books. I imagine when working, I'll still want to come home and look up things to learn more.
