What is the pay rate for a LPN ?

Published

I'm starting nursing school and I have had others tell me that LPN don't make but like $10.00 an hour. And I'm thinking they are way wrong I. What they are saying.

My first job as an LPN out of school was in at family clinic in Panama City, FL and I was making $10/hr. I do know that other people were making more. I have since moved to AR, where I am from originally, and started off at $12.50/hr at family practice. I now make $14/hr at the same job, but I did have to put my notice in and almost quit before being given a raise. The pay depends on your area and the specialty that you are working in. I know that the LTC facilites around here are starting LPNs off at $17-18/hr. I am currently looking for other employment.

I live in Arkansas and the lowest I've ever made was $15.50. I made $18 starting as a brand new nurse in LTC.

Where in AR are you? I am in Pope County..

I make $14/hr now but I started off making $12.50.. I plan to get a new job soon.

I work in Pulaski county. I am at a clinic where I'm making about $16/hr. However, I don't live in Pulaski county, but about an hour away. So I have to sacrifice and drive a good ways to make that salary. I'm from a rural area, so I'm sure pay is not that high near where I live.

HI!! I live in North Florida and have been an LPN for 10 months now. I started at a skilled nursing facility and my starting pay rate was $18.31/hr and I just got bumped up to $19.81/hr about a month ago. There is no shift diff where I work. I work on the 3-11 shift but I'm moving towards the 11-7 shift soon, as I think it would be an easier schedule with school.

Ignore them and be happy for yourself, and continue to give excellent care. You are a nurse with different credentials and scope of Pratice .

I've heard the same thing so many times from RN students and it makes me so mad! Don't let anyone get you down, a nurse is a nurse. By doing my LPN first, I can get more experience when I start on my RN. To me, that's worth it. LPN or RN, it's not about title, it's about your desire to do your job well and help people that need you.

Some parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma pay 10.00 to 11.00 per hour. In fact, I was offered 12.00 per hour. I was making 11.00 per as a CNA. I live in Dallas and make 27.00 per hour. This is PDN not hospital or nursing home.

What?!?!?????? That's not even minimum wage where I live. I know things are highly geographical, but wow!!!!!

I work in Florida and I make $22.00 an hour. I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week.

My first LPN job was started 3 days after graduation in 2008.

I was hired in a SNF, evening shift, taking no benefits...I made $24 and change.

That being said, I live in CT where the cost of living is one of the highest in the country.

Where in Florida? And where do you work?

Brand new Lpn grad making $23hr in Chicago il

In Cali in 2005 I made 17.50/hr at my first LVN job. While geographies influence income, it shouldn't make it minimum wage.i did my LVN, then my RN then my BSN. I turned out just fine. ;)

I keep hearing that a lot of hospitals won't hire new grad RN's.

Would preference be given to those new grads that started from the bottom? CNA > LPN > RN > BSN?
