What does your nursing uniform look like?

I found out today that our nursing uniform is white scrub pants (or a white skirt), a white polo shirt and a white smock/lab coat that has to be worn at all times. YUCK!! Plus, the polo shirt is pretty thick. Can anyone say heat stroke.:o I'm gonna melt and look ugly lol.

What do you wear to your clinicals?

Those of you that are allowed to wear scrubs are so lucky. At least you are cool and comfortable.

Specializes in Dialysis (All Modalities) , Ex-CVICU RN.

White Polo or Scrub Top. White Crest lab jacket and White pants. White shoes. We're all white with the exception of the Blue TMCC Patch we wear on the left upper sleeve. I wish we can have blue pants like the university here has.

Specializes in Burn/Trauma PCU.

Our uniforms are pretty okay: white polo shirt with the school name on the upper left chest area, navy blue scrubs, white socks (they said they must cover the ankle), and all-white shoes. They are comfortable - one of the local CC's uniforms is this starched white thing that can walk by itself, so we are lucky! We also have a scrub jacket (white) or a hip-length lab coat (white) that we can wear - school badge ironed on to the left sleeve.

The bookstore didn't order enough uniforms for the start of class - our class started this Monday, and I guess they forgot that a whole cohort of students starts in the summer - and so a lot of people are uniformless for a couple of weeks. Plus, they only seemed to have size 1s and 0s in pants and XXXL in the polo shirts - huh? I got around it by finding the last two L shirts and I actually went to allheart.com and ordered my scrub pants - cargo style, petite, perfect fit for me. Everyone is constantly asking me how I found them! They're the same color, brand, and style - it's just everyone snatches up the cargo styles from the bookstore and leaves the "classic" (80's style tapered leg, no deep pockets, huge thick elastic waistband)

Our school wears royal blue pants, white scrub top and a royal blue jacket (if you want to wear it). It's not the prettiest thing but atleast it's comfortable.

Specializes in post-op.

To the OP I feel your pain. Our uniforms are a choice of 3 different style tops, all of which are the most hideous looking things and pants with tapered legs, all white. And white shoes. After the 1st year I went and bought a different pair of white pants, NOT tapered legs. So did a bunch of other students, non of my clinical instructors ever said anything, I figured as long as they were white. And we have to wear it to pinning. I am burning it after I grad, which luckily is on the 30th of this month. It's almost like you have to pay your dues before you can wear real scrubs :) I guess they want you stick out like a sore thumb or something;) Plus white is a bad idea for me since I am accident prone with beverages, so I always waited until the last minute to put it on before I left for clinical to decrease the chances of me spilling anything on it :lol2:

Specializes in Geriatrics, Med-Surg.

Our scrubs are a royal (SMURF) blue. We're already planning a "Smurfs" theme for graduation. :uhoh3:

white uniform pants and top (not "scrubs" and not see through in any way) white socks and shoes also and our school patch. we can have different styles like cargo or boot cut though.

Specializes in ante/postpartum, baby RN.

We have black scrub pants and blue scrub tops with school logo. Three styles to choose from. Feeling lucky. :)

Blahhh you guys that get to wear anything you want are lucky!! I have to have:

white shoes (if it has color, it has to be a LITTLE bit of it)

white scrub pants

white scrub top

white lab coat --3/4 length

I went to a scrub shop yesterday but ickkk couldn't find any pants that I liked. I don't start class until Aug. 28th, but I just want everything done now! lol.

I have clinicals once a week and that's when I'll be wearing my white uniform. I have to buy one burgundy uniform for maternity rotation but that's the second semester (don't know if it'll be spring 2007 or spring 2008). Anyway! That's what I get to wear! :lol2:
