Just wondering if anyone knows? Is your Registered nursing license worth anything as an asset? We are starting up a small business and I think that because my license is required to have/operate the company that it should be worth something?!?! I do not have high finances to put towards the company but do have my RN license going on 12 years now?!? Have experience etc... Does anyone have any advice for me? Please?!?

Assets are possessions that can be assessed and given a cash value, usually used for collateral in business deals, such as loans. A nursing license would not satisfy the definition of an asset.
Your experience, however, will contribute greatly to your business profile. Perhaps you can use equity in the business as collateral? Just a thought. I'm no business expert!

What kind of business/company?
I have been a nurse for 12 years... now opening a small wellness/weight loss clinic under my license... Just wanting my license to count for something in the business startup as I have little cash to use as an investment. My mother and I are starting this company. That's a whole other story... :) as far as family business goes. She needs my license to be able to sell the products and I need her money to get it all up an running. I just wanted to somehow use my RN license as an intangible asset?!? Who knows! Thanks for ANY advice!
Maybe ask someone who does taxes, a CPA?

Cash value as to future earnings potential, and costs of aquisition, makes a professional license/degree common property and a point of contention in divorce proceedings. I've seen this first hand.
As to collateral for a business venture, that I can not answer with certainty, but seems a stretch.

How would your mother "need" your license for this business? It is illegal for anyone but the one licensed to use the license, so be very careful there. Would she be using your license to sell the products as an R.N.? How would that work?

I would be really leery of "using" your nursing license to sell a product. What would be your liability if someone is injured or harmed by these products.
Perhaps if you give us an example of how your license is necessary for this business and how/why your mother "needs" your license to sell these products, we can better understand.

I know my license is worth about 2 cents because that is what everyone asks for when they find out I am a nurse and that is all the management seems takes into consideration

Your license is only worth for how much others are willing to pay for your service, just like a house. If you can get a job that pays you 60,000, then it is worth 60,000. if you can't get a job, then it's woth 0.:))

When you say she needs your licenses, do you mean this business requires a Licensed RN on staff? Or does she need it to actually sell products?
