I have been going through all these posts to find what items are the best things to have for nursing school. The posts are all scattered so I thought I would start a post that will contain all the info for the new incoming students.
I would like to know what I should spend my money on when it comes to study guides, NCLEX review books, NET review books, best nursing shoes (without a logo), stethescope, misc nursing items you have to have, etc. Any new students/senior students/graduate nurses have any info they can share? What were the items you couldn't live without???
Thanks for your input!
Hey all, I start August 28th, (orientation Aug 24th) just did a 3 day Pharmacology Math CE and it was a furious pace. Anyway, I had different books either spiral bound (the smaller, thinner ones) and had my VERY LARGE, THICK lecture books unbound, and 3 hole drilled at OfficeMAX, 4 books in all and it was 15.00 dollars. Love the spiral bound one especially. I had my Visual assessment made incredibly easy book spiraled too, 4 bucks...Good luck everyone
HI All,
This may sound silly, but why get the books unbound and made into 3 hole? Does it make it easier to use once they are in a binder? Just curious, because I will be getting my books in 3 weeks and I'd like to do what works best.
One more question, is the PDA something I should seriously consider purchasing?
Thanks for all the wonderful info!

I got my PDA one month ago and I start school in September. I did not want to wait last minute to get it because I want to be able to figure out how to use it comfortably. So, far, I have my a bible, puzzle, RNAssess, RnDiseases, RnDxIn9, RnFastFacts, RnLabs, Tabers, Stedmans, WashMnl, Palm EKG, Epocrates and checkers. I am glad I got it early because last week I had to call because I downloaded too much into the external memory and I had to do a hard reset. From what I can see, I love the PDA. I sold two of my books, the drug and the labotory tests, I know I wont be using them. Go ahead and get it as soon as possible.

The reason I got mine spiraled and the large ones 3 holed is b/c they are easier to handle/carry. Two of mine are over 1800 pages and obviously we won't need ALL of it at class. So, I take out the chapts I need for that week and put them in a small 1.5 inch binder. And for my smaller books (studyguides, etc) the spiral makes it very easy to open fully and is lighter.
Excellent info, thank you.
Where did you download most of your software for your PDA from, or was it several sites? I purchased a HP PDA today, can't wait to start using it, I have 3 weeks to get familiar.
Love the idea of putting your chapters your are currently working on in a binder to cut down on amount and weight of books.
