Hello everyone. I just finished the whole Kaplan Qbank with an overall score of 60%
Here are my scores on the Sample Tests:
1- 48%
2- 46%....... a hundred (sad facies)
3- 78%
What do they signify? And the strategies, I have been using them and was able to eliminate the 2 obvious wrong choices, but I always pick the wrong remaining answer. Am I stupid or what?
I am getting nervous since my exam will be next week. Sample test 1 and 2 really slapped me in the face.. lol
Please be honest with me here guys.thanks suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks guys! You are going to blow this exam away too! I definitely think Kaplan helped--especially reading every rationale! I'm not sure how to compare the questions from NCLEX to what was in Kaplan, except for that I just felt ready to answer whatever was thrown my way. And if I didn't know, I was at least able to get down to two answers. I didn't really use the decision tree during my prep and I don't think I really used it today...it's all kind of a blur, not going to lie!
Yes, there were quite a bit of SATAs, but Kaplan taught me to face them and not freak out--I think that was huge in keeping my calm today. I think in this thread alone it clearly shows that Kaplan seems to be working. Good luck and let us know how it goes, you've got this!
Thanks hotnurse408! I finished nursing school Dec 15th...started Kaplan January 3-7...tested today, the 25th. So really just over the course of a few weeks. I didn't have work or anything like that to worry about, so it made it easy to sit and focus for long stents at a time.
Our school made us do an exit ATI exam which predicted a 97% chance of passing for me. It was always recommended to test as soon as you can because the longer you wait the harder it is.
Please feel free to ask any questions that I may be able to help with. I know I was such a wreck trying to prepare for NCLEX. Good luck!
hi everyon!!
i just read thru everyone's comments and i wanted to say CONGRATS to all that have passed!!! you all are very encouraging and motivating. just reading these messages has helped me so much. i can't imagine the feeling! i take my test on feb 6 and i'm freaking out a bit... but i think thats normal haha but i just wanted to get some input on my kaplan scores from everyone that has passed the nclex....
diagnostic - 59 (took this before any studying)
QT 1 - 57
QT 2 - 53
QT 3 - 48 (ahhh!!?)
QT 4 - 61
readiness - 63 (our teacher had us complete this by the last day so we could go over the results)
my Qbank average right now is 56 with only 48% used.
i'm really nervous and i dont know what i should do i have the next week and half to study and i am just wondering what you all would suggest to focus on? i still have all of my qbank and QT tests left, as well as the 3 practice exams.... i also have a saunders comprehensive book, lachairty book, lipincott comprehensive book and access to ATI practice exams online through my school. i feel overwhelmed with all of the resouces so which one would you suggest is best matching to NCLEX?
thanks for your comments and support in advance i really need it right now
Thank you!!! Feels so great :)
@LC1028, I think your scores are great. Keep doing your Qbanks and reading your rationales--I promise, the more questions you answer, the better you will get. I really just stuck to Kaplan. I didn't personally care for LaCharity as I felt some of the delegation things contradicted things I'd learned with Kaplan.
Good luck, you've got this. Best wishes!
@lc1028: Hi there, you have made a good decision to use Kaplan. Well, when I first started with the qbanks, I had really depressing scores..mostly in the 40's. But what I did to improve on those scores was I would read the rationales of wrong and right answers. The next time I practiced, I tested on UNUSED AND INCORRECT ONLY,to make sure I understood every incorrect answer I got on qbank. My scores improved and would go to the 50's-60's range, sometimes would reach as high as 85 :) On other days I would get as low as 46, but I continued reading the rationales. Be consistent :)
IMO Lacharity helped me with delegation because usually the most complex skills are for the RN's, the easiest are for the NA's, and of course LPN's are in the middle, nothing too complex or too easy to do. But most of the time, it would get confusing, just read the rationale.I'll post up here the DELEGATION MNEMONIC, gonna search for it first :) Keep us updated and good luck in your studies.
This will also be extremely helpful to you...
