What should I do?Scores in Kap qbank got lower..

Published

Hello everyone. I just finished the whole Kaplan Qbank with an overall score of 60%

Here are my scores on the Sample Tests:

1- 48%

2- 46%....... a hundred :( (sad facies)

3- 78%

What do they signify? And the strategies, I have been using them and was able to eliminate the 2 obvious wrong choices, but I always pick the wrong remaining answer. Am I stupid or what?

I am getting nervous since my exam will be next week. Sample test 1 and 2 really slapped me in the face.. lol

Please be honest with me here guys.thanks suggestions are appreciated.

Saunders is more on basic knowledge. I love it, helped me understand how each body system worked. As for Kaplan, the questions you have there are more difficult, you really have to use your analytical abilities if you plan to use Kaplan. :)

It's definitely a good reference. I just wondered all in all how it compared to Kaplan. I used Kaplan before but I didn't think it helped me much...then my subscription ran out. I was getting 50-60% on the Qbank questions when I did use it though. This will be the 3rd time I've attempted this test and needless to say it's getting frustrating.

@littleone17 is there a way i can get your email to contact you regarding more in depth study plan? did you do the study mode or time mode for the kaplan qbank.

hello!

if you look back over this thread you will see what we all have been doing as far as studying goes and scores on kaplan! hope that helps!

it looks like i'm jumping into this conversation a little late. it sounds like you guys have some good study tips. does anyone know how questions from saunders compare to those of kaplan? i take my test this week and have mainly been focusing on exams and practice quizzes from the disc that came in the saunders book. i have consistently been getting 68% on the exams. any advice will help. thank you.i

hello, im not sure about saunders questions but i can tell you that when i compare the kaplan questions to the nclex-rn 3500 & ati tests...kaplan questions are way harder. they are mostly application questions and i feel that some other tests are more knowledge based. i hope that helps!!

@ littleone17 whoa who!!! congrats to you!!! see you put all your faith in yourself and you did it :nurse:!! so happy! continue to pray for the rest of us!! im one week down!!! :):yelclap:

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, Littleone, I know you dont want to celebrate earlier but congratulations!!!!

:yelclap:

How did the Kaplan questions compare to the actual NCLEX exam?

@ladybugme!: thank you for the congrats, I continue to do the PVT up until now and the good pop up still shows up. I hope I do pass, it's bad enough that my BON doesn't have quick results lol..hope this PVT works 100%.

Yes I will be praying for you guys, don't give up on your dreams and believe me, if I can pass with Kaplan with those ugly 40's on my sample tests then you can too:) Holy Lord pls guide these wonderful people to stay calm during their exam, lend them a helping hand and a peaceful mind. Give them the knowledge and faith they need to pass, so as one day they will use their knowledge and skills to be good nurses.. AMEN.

@dallasfynest: I won't say Kaplan is harder or easier than the NCLEX, it's more of a mix. You never know what question you are gonna get from them, and I had tons of prioritization and about 12-15 SATA's, not one single math question. I believe it was all pure faith and prayers, cus I prayed real hard not to get any math, lol.. yeah yeah I suck at math :)

I'll give you a tip though, use the Kaplan strategies esp. Assess vs Implement on what-to-do-first. Prioritization questions (IMO) were kinda obvious which answer was the most correct. Take your time, breathe, avoid caffeine the night before and the morning of your big day. Gotta know your ABC's, and ask yourself before answering, is this SAFE for the patient? I'll pray for you guys don't worry you got my back :) Good luck and God bless

Checking in--I started at 8am this morning, was finished around 9:40. The screen went blue after #75. I walked away feeling the relief that it was over, but the more that I thought about the test as a I walked through the parking garage, the more discouraged I began to feel.

I called a classmate for support and she helped calm my nerves. I was about an hour away from my house, so when I got home I debated doing the PVT. My hands were trembling as I re-entered my data. It didn't let me re-register. PHEW, I want to believe in PVT, but not until I see my name on my BON. So glad it's OVER.

I didn't count my SATAs because I didn't want to stress myself out, but my computer would give me 2 multiple choice questions, then a SATA, then another...torture.

You did it!!

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!

Thank you soooo much! Feels so good to be DONE!! :)

Congrats ydrusssell.....Its all over now...you can breathe...Im so happy for you..

My exam is coming up in less than 2 weeks!! so nervous, preparing with Kalplan!
