What should I do?Scores in Kap qbank got lower..

Published

Hello everyone. I just finished the whole Kaplan Qbank with an overall score of 60%

Here are my scores on the Sample Tests:

1- 48%

2- 46%....... a hundred :( (sad facies)

3- 78%

What do they signify? And the strategies, I have been using them and was able to eliminate the 2 obvious wrong choices, but I always pick the wrong remaining answer. Am I stupid or what?

I am getting nervous since my exam will be next week. Sample test 1 and 2 really slapped me in the face.. lol

Please be honest with me here guys.thanks suggestions are appreciated.

Dont worry just pray and we will both do fine!

at least you are getting in the 60's on the qbank... i've only gotten 2 60& in my qbanks. How are you studying? Are you reading the kaplan course book first then doing questions? or are you doing both every day?

i did 4 days of inclass review with kaplan and i have also all the videos for the pharmacological and parenteral therpaies, and the reduction of risk potenital videos. do you have access to these videos? i basically just follow along in the kaplan course book and take notes in it as they talk. other than that i haven't done any review. ive read a little of saunders but i feel like i get the best review by doing the questions and then looking at the rationales. if i didnt know the topic of the question good enough i will then go into the kaplan course book and review that section. i plan on listening to all of the video content by the end of next week.

some days i only do questions (around 200) and review the stuff i didnt understand completely.

other days i will do 3 hours of video review and then do around 100 questions.

it really vaires depending on how i am feeling that day! im not sure if this is the best method but i hope this helps!

Oh ok. Yeah I did the in class Kaplan review as well. I was hesitant to read the course book at first but ended up reading it anyways haha I'll probably start watching the videos online next then. I'm also thinking about reading the while Saunders book next? I don't know if that's a good idea though? By the way are you from California?

oh thats good you read the review book! how long have you been studying for? when is your date again? i like the saunders book for review but i know the questions are though as of easier... and i kinda feel like kaplan is doing the best at preparing me. but maybe ill read up on the areas that i need more work on like pharm and things like that. nope im in NY! its freezing cold and raining here :(

Hello.

I am new to allnurses, but found this forum helpful in regards that I am not the only one struggling to take boards and have a similar situations with Kaplan scores.

I graduated last May (2011) and got accepted into Pharmacy school for February 2012. I took my boards in July 2011 (without studying) and if I passed, I passed and would have the license but didn't really need it since I would be pursuing a PharmD. Since then, things have changed! I have decided not to move away and go to Pharmacy school, but instead to get my nursing license and stay at home.

I have been practicing with Kaplan, and have seen all QBank questions now (since I began using it a year ago), so I am getting 60's--I believe since I've seen the content. Also, I am getting 50's on all Question Trainers. I took a free 50 ? test on KapTest and got a 40%. I feel that this is probably where I stand in reality and NCLEX.

I am scared to fail NCLEX, again, since it has been SO long and statistically the longer you wait, the less likely you are to pass. But I need to get this over with, and get a job to begin my career. Student loans are piling up.

Any ideas or suggestions on where to start? Thank you for any and all advice you may have for me :)

lc1028: I haven't gotten my ATT yet, but I want to take it mid feb. I hope it comes soon though..ugh. I've been studying (officially) on the 17th of Jan. Yeah Saunders seems better as far as reviewing the contents. I'm probably gonna end up reading it anyways..idk we'll see.

khm84: Since it's been a while for you and you want to play it safe, I think you should just read review books (Saunders and i've heard that HURST is good too) and continue to do kaplan questions (I've heard from many that kaplan questions are similar to that of the NCLEX style) and questions from your review books as well. But then again it all depends on you..that's just what I would do if I were in your position
