I am a new graduate, first time working as an RN. I just got a job in a rehab and nursing home facility. The person told me that I may be placed in the subacute unit. Tomorrow is my first day and also the first day of the 10-day orientation. I am not sure what to bring with me
I will wear my scrub, a watch, a few pens, a highlight, few notecards to write, a penlight, my lunch, and of course my stethoscope, and scissor.
I am not sure if I should bring a drug book, and is there anything else I need to bring?

I used to have 2 pair of shoes with me if I worked 12s, changing them half way through helped with the foot aches until I got used to those longer hours.

Is this a meeting/classroom day or orientation on the floor?
Basics: pocket-sized notebook, 2 pens, lunch/water and stetho.
If it's a classroom day I would drop the stetho and bring a folder for all their junk. If it's a floor day I'd drop the folder and consider the drug book and scissors if you don't think stuff like that will be available.
I can't imagine you are going to need to highlight anything, but whatever works for you. Just be sure you are paying attention rather than focusing on writing down every word say.
Have fun and good luck!
Thank you for all the comments?!

An orthopedist recommended I do that many years ago because I have some knew problems. As he said, "No matter wonderful my favorite shoes are, spending a full day walking with the same stress points on your lower extremities is going to cause problems. Switch up your shoes once or twice a day to switch the stress points to another spot."
It helped a lot with my knees -- and feet!
I know this is too late for the OP, but it might help some future reader of this thread.
Bring a little cash. You never know when you will need it. For lunch or snack food. For the parking garage. For something you decide you want from the gift shop. etc. The same is true when you go to an interview. Always carry a little cash. You never know when you are going to need it.
I've had to buy a few people lunch on their first day of work because they didn't think of that. I've also had to give them cash to get their cars out of the parking garage.
