I'm just curious to see what you all think has been your hardest clinical so far.. Or if you may have heard anything through the grapevine...?
I start my pedi/maternity rotations in a few weeks! I'm so excited to get started, but under all the excitement is a bunch of nerves!

Peds/Maternity aren't so bad, it's all pretty straightforward. It can suck if you're a guy, some of the nurses aren't very welcoming to men in those specialties.

Hardest clinical for me was Psych - only because I HATED it. Knew right off the bat I was NO psych nurse...

I think my upcoming clinicals will be the hardest. Psych and Cardiac/ Critical Care. There's always some level of anxiety or nervousness d/t not knowing the instructors.

I'm not entirely finished with clinicals but so far I'd say Peds was hardest, emotionally. I learned pretty quickly that I'm not cut out for sick kids, especially sick kids with bad/neglectful parents.

That exactly what clinicals I have this semester. I am excited about Cardiac/Critical Care but terrified of Psych. I had some patients with major psych diagnoses in my past clinicals and I always felt overwhelmed.

Even before starting nursing I know I'm going to hate the maternity rotation...it's going to be the longest most frustrating 8 weeks of my life. I'm not looking forward to it.

Hated, hated, hated Psych! I felt drained for weeks afterward.

I haven't had a hard clinical so far. I always try to brush up on my skills before entering a semester. I am very happy with my clinicals so far. By the way, my last clinical is this month and it is critical care.. I hope to do well too.

OB was absolutely the worst for me. Ugh, ugh ugh!!!!
Thanks for all the responses guys! It's interesting to see what people enjoy and other things they want to steer clear from!

My first clinical in an acute rehab was hard, physically and mentally. It was my first time in a medical setting caring for patients.
And Peds was horrible, absolutely horrible.
