That life is sometimes not fair. That sometimes bad things happen to good people. I was 23 when I had to take care of a former coworker who had dated my best friend in nursing school. He had a chronic condition that he was born with. He suffered. He also died at 25. He was a CMO and my patient. I learned life is too short to worry about the small stuff. I also work an hour away from home with hopes of never knowing my patients outside of work.
