"does your high school GPA matter for getting in to a BSN program,"
It matters for you getting into the college where you plan to do your prequisites.

It is not like Canada.
"It is not like Canada"
What an irrelevant answer... I realize its not like Canada that is exactly why I asked "whats it like there"

There are some high schools in my area that have accelerated curriculum and students are able to get some (if not all) of their basic college courses completed their junior and senior year. My daughter will have about 30 credits of college complete by the time she graduates (If she had gotten into the charter school, it would have been 60. Stupid lottery system). Some high school students aren't even offered that. It depends on the school district, the student and individual schools.
Ok thank you, is your daughter planning on getting a BSN? if so how much will those 30 credits shorten the length of the BSN.
No, my daughter has stated many times there was NO WAY IN HADES she was going to go into anything involved in the medical field. She plans on majoring in Computer Science or Education.

I think the OP is mistaken because in Canada your GPA does matter and the pre reqs are basic high school courses. You should research better before making a statement like that

What the OP describes is precisely how my experience was. I applied to college directly out of high school and selected the School of Nursing on my undergrad application. There were no pre-reqs to be accepted into the nursing program, the courses were built into the 4 year program. That's how every school I applied to was. And, yes, your high school GPA did matter for getting accepted, as did SAT or ACT scores.
Are NOT just basic high school courses- sorry typo

The above was exactly my sister's experience for a freshman entry BSN program. Those with high HS GPAs, AP or honors classes, higher SAT scores were directly admitted to the school of nursing. Others were admitted to general studies/pre-nursing and had to earn stellar grades in the intro to nursing and nursing co-req classes (A&P, micro, nutrition) to be admitted 2nd semester freshman or 1st semester sophomore.
Most BSN programs (not RN to BSN) in my area are freshman admit and take nursing fundamentals either first or second semester (depending on which rotation) and co req's throughout program.

High school was 10 years ago for me, so I don't remember my GPA. It was high. I'm sure it helped me get into college, in addition to helping me get a scholarship to pay for college.
How am I mistaken ? That is exactly what I said. I stated that the high school courses are the pre reqs did i not?
