What did you do when you got rejected?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I had imaginary thoughts of suicide lol :lol2:. I know. Suicide isn't funny but I was never thinking of acting on it! Anyways.. What happened when you got rejected from a nursing school you applied to?

Edit.

I didn't get rejected from any school yet but I assumed I did. lol

my mouth is stuck in a frown right now. I got rejected from one school. that means it doesn't look good for the other schools i applied for. It is pretty devastating. Ill try again next year though.

Im sorry :( Turn to plan B, retake class, reapply to more schools, retake test. Youll get in eventually dont give up-Chin up!

If you don't get accepted this time, then do something else that will keep you on track. Take a class--anything related to health care. Expand your options--look for other programs and see if you qualify. Look for volunteer opportunites; you'll gain valuable patient care experience. If you aren't already doing so, establish an exercise regimen for yourself- knowing that you're ready for the challenges of the RN program both intellectually and physically is a good way to keep your spirits up.

I cried, cursed the world & cried some more :D. Re-applied again, took Human Sexuality & volunteered to pass the time & keep my mojo running (PUN intended). Got rejected 3 more times, waitlisted at another & got accepted at the school where I currently am today.

I took more classes that's apart of the curriculum and tried again.

i recently got rejected and i have to admit i am pretty devastated, but i am moving forward with my applications for 2 more schools and with the re-application to the school that rejected me. i am also looking at retaking the only prereq i got a b on and might also take a cna class.

i understand the pain many of you are going thru. at 30, with hopes of someday having kids, this new career path is really putting a hold on many family plans. i just hope i can manage to still start the accelerated program by 2011. if not, i honestly don’t know what i will do.

Re: Last reply:

I finished a MA in 2008, tried to get a teaching job, no go, so am trying nursing. I, too, am applying now (did all my prereq's already). Just got my 1st reject yesterday. I did feel rather depressed for the rest of the day. But have 1 more school to hear from yet.

Keep your hopes up. I know how you feel. But 30 is a spring chicken though compared to 39. Sometimes I feel like I have to give up on the idea of a family. If I have to reapply - plus the program, could be 43 when done. I can't imagine wanting to get pregnant the minute I start working full-time either. But many women in their 30s/40s have babies successfully. Really no worries til later 30's. You'll be OK!!

When I went back to school in 08, I was going to be a Physical Therapists Assistant. After a year of pre-reqs I thought my grades were good and figured I'd get in. Oh how the mighty fall, I got the letter in the mail and cried. I got really depressed about it and had no idea what I'd do next, I'd have to wait a whole year to apply again. Since I had applied for financial aid figuring I'd be in the PTA program I decided instead to take classes to raise a C in English from a really long time ago plus some other classes that would qualify me for some other programs. I looked into the Xray program at my school and with the encouragement of a friend the Nursing program. The more I thought about nursing the more I liked it, and seeing some really awesome nurses in action at Memorial Hermann really sealed the deal. I was very nervous about submitting my application for nursing knowing how competitive it is. But I knew I wanted in so I applied for both the ADN and LVN program. And at the end of this past March I got my acceptance letter for the ADN program. What I feel now is the exact opposite of what I felt last year. The extra year of work and waiting was worth it.

despite all the poor pitiful me answers, I suggest seek something else. The world aint going to end

because you got rejected. There are PLENTY of job opportunities in this wild & crazy world, start looking.

Dont take it personally. probably some dip stick who cant do half as good as you, got the job.

I go out and get drunk!

I cried. Then I signed up to take the TEAS again and made sure that I had all of my transcripts were in. With just putting a little bit of time into studying for the TEAS I did well enough to get into the program that I really wanted.

Try not to freak out until you actually know you've been rejected! You might be pleasantly surprised.

That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I know it's a completely cliche saying, but it is so very true. It could be the motto for my life. If you got rejected and you really want this, keep working for it.

I wish all of you still waiting to get in the best of luck, don't give up on yourself or nursing school if that's your goal.

I've been done with my pre-reqs since August 09, at which point, I applied to the nursing program at my school. I was passed over for spring (which I knew would happen), but I was told maybe fall of 10 and for sure spring of 11. Fast forward to this March, when I met with the nursing counselor to make sure that I was on track. I am, and all my support courses will be done this summer. Great, so when am I getting in? Not fall for sure, as the letters of acceptance went out. 275 people were done with all their support courses and they accepted 120. Um, yeah, spring isn't happening either. And you get in based upon when you originally apply, so people who take one class a semester finish and immediately get in, but people who take classes full time then have to sit and wait.

I'll reapply this August for the ADN program that I might get in for Fall '11, but in the meantime, I will be applying to two other BSN programs as well.

I really wish my ADN program would put more focus on GPA, all you have to have is the minimum of 2.5 to get in. Many of the people that can barely scrape by end up failing out, because a C goes from 70% to 76&.
