What did you do when you got rejected?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I had imaginary thoughts of suicide lol :lol2:. I know. Suicide isn't funny but I was never thinking of acting on it! Anyways.. What happened when you got rejected from a nursing school you applied to?

Edit.

I didn't get rejected from any school yet but I assumed I did. lol

I cried. A lot.

I'm currently on a waitlist for a nursing program and as such the possibility of acceptance or rejection is a real 50/50. If I get accepted, great and if I don't there is just no time for tears or any depression. You just have to pick yourself up and try again. Determination is what gets you places. If you really want something, you keep pursuing it because you will eventually get it.

I was literally shaking when I got wait listed for the school I applied to because I knew that they never take anyone. So a few weeks later, I accepted a spot in the liberal arts school at the same college to finish more classes. I re-applied again for an in-school transfer with a much stronger application and I'll be hearing back in June!

I haven't been rejected, but I have already warned my friends and family that I would be devastated. I'm sure plenty of tears would follow.

I haven't gotten my letter yet, but I too have pondered the 'what if'. I will be disappointed, but I don't think I'd cry just because its just not how I tend to handle things like that. But, I already have a plan B and yes, even a plan C already laid out. I am too determined and won't let a 'no' stop me!

I cried. I got mad. I took some courses and applied again. Plus I applied to the other four nursing schools in my area. When I was rejected again by three schools, I appealed one of them, got in on a waitlist and ended up in the top 5% of the class.

Sad, I got rejected!!! I'm not really devasted. (Not yet at least.) Only applied to one school, and have to wait until end of this semester to apply to any of my other choices. (Ok, I'm partly devasted now). Anyway, I know it was because of that freakin Teas Test. I tanked the Science portion, a 63.3%, that was one of their major focus areas. :crying2::crying2: I could give a million reasons on why I think that my school's policy on Nursing Program entry is not fair. It doesn't matter that I"m on the Dean's list. It doesn't matter that I work really hard to get the 3.83 gpa I have. I got 2 new babies at home, a husband working nights, and I'm returning to school after a 17-18 year break (IT DOES NOT MATTER).:idea::idea::idea::idea::idea:. Some genius decided that WHOMEVER HAS THE HIGHEST TEAS SCORES GET IN THE PROGRAM:no::no::no:.

These are the rules! Better luck next time, I guess. (I have reached full blown devastation). I'm appealing it tomorrow!!:):) No not really, I'm just trying to remain happy, you know. Lesson learned on studying for the standardized tests, and apply for more schools next time. ;););););) Lastly, I'm proud of me for having the courage to apply. Before I had my kids, I was afraid to go to college. Afraid of getting rejected (I didn't believe in my own intelligence). Today, I can say, I'm pretty darn smart. Good luck to all applying.:oornt:

While it may not be the same issue, I /totally/ agree with you. My college only looks at pre-req grades...which is nice initially, but not when I'm taking 20 CR and have to due to financial aid concerns. They don't look at person A who took 18-20 CR a quarter with a 3.7 but they /will/ look at (say) Suzy who has a 4.0 after four years of one class a quarter. It's really, really annoying.

When I was waitlisted I started applying for other waitlists and schools. I am quite convinced that my numerous attempts filtered back to my alma mater and yielded a seat in the accelerated program. My response to rejection gave me a chance to show what I was really made of.....

Financial aid only requires you take 12 credit hours, but I know what you mean. I have a scholarship and taking 3 bio's at a time is much harder than 1 class per term like most do.
