Just got rejected by CU Denver, how can I improve my essay & application?
Thanks everyone for your posts. Here is my update: I re-sent my application and I am still waiting to get their decision letter. I did interview with Regis and I will know if I got into that program in the next week. Hopefully I'll get into Regis as they are now my top choice.

- Rejected to Accelerated BSN program, should I consider an Associates?
This is something I've been thinking for a while but haven't had any luck finding a unit secretary job. Great advice!- Rejected to Accelerated BSN program, should I consider an Associates?
i could not agree more. believe me, if i was doing this simply for a job wouldn't i just stay in my current profession? you might not know this from my original post, but i do have a day job as a senior marketing coordinator at an architecture firm. i have decided to make a career change because i want to help people. my drive to be a nurse goes far beyond the simply monetary aspects of it.- Rejected to Accelerated BSN program, should I consider an Associates?
Not really sure why I did not get in. Probably a combination of lack of healthcare experience and GPA cumulative: 3.4 prereqs: 3.7 experience: 1 yr volunteer in a hospital degree: B.S in communication I had no idea that an ASN program was harder to get into... seems a little backwards to me. I'll have to do some research in my area. Thanks for your comment.- anyone applying to CU for 2010?
Is this true? I also got a rejection letter and mailed my letter to be included in the next pool. Does this mean that they may include my application for their call-list? Why is it thay they don't tell you your ranking/ Cum GPA: 3.4 Prereq GPA: 3.8 BSN in Communication Volunteer: 1 yr in St Joseph's Oncology Nursing Unit Work Experience: 5 yrs of Marketing Exp Language: Native Spanish Speaker- Rejected to Accelerated BSN program, should I consider an Associates?
Hi Everyone, I have a BSN in Communications and have been doing Marketing and PR for 6 years. I recently applied to University of Colorado in Denver for the Accelerated BSN program but unfortunately got rejected. I am still planning on applying to the other 2 schools in the Denver Metro area that offer these programs but I’m now wondering if I should also consider an Associates program. I would much rather get a BSN as I want to continue my education and perhaps become a Nurse Practitioner but seeing that I may not even get into any of these accelerated programs should I consider an Associates degree? If so, what programs do you all recommend? (Denver-Area please). Suggestions?- Just got rejected by CU Denver, how can I improve my essay & application?
would anyone else who got into the program be willing to look over my essay? THANK YOU!!!:redbeathe- Just got rejected by CU Denver, how can I improve my essay & application?

Hi Ada324, THANK YOU so much for offering to help. Can you please email me your personal email so that I can send my essay along? [email protected] thanks again!!- What did you do when you got rejected?
i recently got rejected and i have to admit i am pretty devastated, but i am moving forward with my applications for 2 more schools and with the re-application to the school that rejected me. i am also looking at retaking the only prereq i got a b on and might also take a cna class. i understand the pain many of you are going thru. at 30, with hopes of someday having kids, this new career path is really putting a hold on many family plans. i just hope i can manage to still start the accelerated program by 2011. if not, i honestly don’t know what i will do.- Just got rejected by CU Denver, how can I improve my essay & application?
hi everyone, i just got rejected to the accelerated spring 2011 program at cu denver and i am scrambling trying to improve my application. here is a little background info about myself: overall gpa: 3.4 pre-reqs gpa: 3.8 bachelor: communication healthcare experience: 1 volunteer experience in nursing oncology unit professional experience: senior marketing coordinator with 5 years of related experience (still do this as my day job) essay: (would love to email my complete essay to someone who got into the program!!) diversity—talked about how my experience as a minority (i am hispanic from colombia) has shaped my tolerance and understanding of other cultures and ethnicities. mentioned my drive to become a hispanic nurse in order to better serve the hispanic community in denver. gave specific examples of how i was able to assist nurses in the oncology unit by being a translator. role as a nurse & preparation to be nurse—talked about how i was inspired to be a nurse when taking care of my mother while she battled cancer. mentioned how my experience as a busy marketing coordinator who deals with many different people and deadlines has helped me become a great multi-tasker and team player. said the role of the nurse is to care for and coordinate the care of patients, teach and advise; their responsibilities are shifting and ever-growing. with the rapid evolution of the healthcare sector, today’s nurses continue to take on more responsibilities.---is this ok? critical skills—talked about how i use critical thinking skills in my job on a daily basis. my role as a proposal coordinator is to analyze proposals, gather information from multiple sources, coordinate the activities of several individuals—both in my firm and at outside companies—and then apply my knowledge, experience and technical skills to develop a concise written and visual document that presents my firm in a compelling and unique manner---not sure if this is relevant?? can someone give me some pointers as to how i can improve my application? are my grades just too low? should i get a cna certificate and gain some real healthcare experience? is my essay not hitting the right points? help!!! - Rejected to Accelerated BSN program, should I consider an Associates?
