What is excelsior?

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Just wondering!

Hi, anybody in NJ, I'm a Lpn trying to do the bridge program, but the waiting list are too long, I've been considerig the EC, but not too sure, please any comments....

I'm in it.

Given that it is a NYS college and I live and practice here I have no issues with the BON.

It will work for you IF several things are true:

1) You can study on your own, and will.

2) You read well and do not need lectures to understand the material presented in the textbooks.

3) You test well.

If any of the above conditions are false I would think hard about doing it this way.

Good luck!

I am doing Excelcior also, and I'm fine with it. I'm a self-studier so it works for me. I wanted to get thru to my RN as quickly as possible, and the waiting lists were just too long. Also, it's easier on my bank account than some of the other programs I looked into.

I love Excelsior. This is the *correct* website - use the wrong extension and you'll get sites that say they get you into Excelsior after you complete their course of study. *Not necessary!*

I take my last test friday then on to the clinical! I love it and I would highly reccommend the program to anyone that is dedicated to complete the RN. Good luck to all those that are considering it!

Can someone tell me what kinds of things are tested during the clinicals?

does this program qualify for student loans?

I believe that I have read on various posts here and on the Excelsior website (go to Financial aid section) that govt loans are not avail. Check with the Excelsior website.

how long did it take you to complete the ec requirements and clinical?

I started July 22, 2006 and graduated July 20, 2007. I worked my a$$ off while I was a stay at home mom to my son Andrew who was 2 when I started. So I was really busy! I have been working at my new job since July 30th and was officially an RN on August 7th. The hospital I work at hired me as a Nurse Extern IV so I was making my RN pay til I passed my boards. Excelsior was awesome!! Everyone that I have been friends with while enrolled there has passed! Life is good!
