Does anyone have information on the RN to BSN program through Excelsior? Any experience with the Capstone and what it is exactly?

I have never had a problem with Alliance Hospital. they have rebuilt and is very nice. Care has always been great there. I don't care for Aultman Hospital. Very rare hear anything good about them

I know the wait is long. But you need this time to study. Mansfield, Ohio was a good site. Call once a week and inquire about cancellation dates.

Passed the clinical in DEc of 2006. Passed my boards in Feb 2007. I would recommend Excelsior for someone who knows that they can not sit through the traditional classroom. I worked full time while I did this. It is not easy. YOu have to have the discipline to say this is my number one priority. Make your self study. I used the books from College Network. But you can get your books directly through Excelsior. The CPNE is the most stressful thing I have ever done in my life. YOu have to pass the three days with a 100%. It is not a teaching clinical. It is to show skills of a first day graduate RN. I think the pass rate is only 65%. I did fail the first time I took the CPNE. Having a great husband for a support system is what got through the program.

My parents paid for my RN nursing school. Did not have to pay them back. I paid for my LPN school though.

if you have your lpn you can go through excelsior of new york for your rn. distant learn school. you can work full time and study and take your exams as you are able. this is how i got my rn and would recommend the program.

I had been an LPN for fourteen years and I failed my first CPNE and passed the second time with no repeats. Stress and nerves got me. You have to be able to deal with and control the anxiety level. The CPNE must be passed with 100%. If you miss any of the critical elements they will fail you. But it is doable.

I used the College Network texts also. And after every exam I just wondered where they got the questions from because they were not in the book I studied. I stopped reading the books and just studied the questions at the end of the book and bought the online practice exams from Excelsior. It went faster for me that way and it didn't make any difference if I read the book or not. I passed most of the exams with B's doing it that way.

I failed my first CPNE and then passed the second time with no repeats. My problem was stress. I knew my critical elements. I practiced the labs every day for months in my home. I did assessements on my pateints at work and then when I got to the CPNE nerves got me. I failed in the lab part for stupid mistakes. The second time I went with a totally different attitude and made it with no repeats......

Excelsior is the way to go if you don't want to sit in a traditional classroom. BUt you have to be dedicated and make Excelsior your priority to get through it. I graduated in Feb 16, 2007 and became an RN on Feb 28, 2007. Its the best thing I have ever done.

Must keep your stress under control. Make a grid and use it every time you go to do something. Know your critical elements. Study them til you see them in your sleep. Practice, Practice, Practice the labs. Set up a lab station in your home and practice every day.

I used the college Network study guides and I am now an RN, so they do work. I found that reading the whole guide was a waste of time for me. I studied the questions at the end of the chapters and the end of the book. good luck. Just remember it is doable. YOu have to stay focused and it has to be a priority in your life to get through it.

Passed Cpne in Dec 2006 and it is a wonderful feeling. The weights were lifted off of my shoulders. Passed the boards in Feb with 75 questions and now an RN.....YEH!!!!1:balloons:
