Hi everyone, I'm new here, but I have been reading some threads and really appreciate all the helpful info you're all putting out there. So thank you! I just have one question... I'm about to start studying with the Excellcior program, and I'm wondering if there is any particular order of studies that works best. I have a few general subjects, and of course the nursing concepts. I just don't know where to start... maybe I'm just a little overwhelmed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated... and thanks in advance...

I am doing Excelcior also, and I'm fine with it. I'm a self-studier so it works for me. I wanted to get thru to my RN as quickly as possible, and the waiting lists were just too long. Also, it's easier on my bank account than some of the other programs I looked into.

I am doing the College Network program right now, and I'm fine with it. I'm a self-studier, so it works for me. About half-way thru the program, I will be officially enrolled at Excelcior College to finish out the nursing part of my studies (I am doing general ones now). As for the cost, all I can say is it's a lot cheaper than what I paid for my LPN education. And since you go at your own pace, you can get thru the program as fast as you want. I'm not saying it's for everyone. But it works for me, and I personally think it's worth looking into as an option. Because some nursing programs just have too long of a wait to get started. And I want to get my RN as quickly as possible so I can have more opportunities at the hospital where I work.

Hi, I'm Jul and happy to see this entry into the forums. I am a new LPN, graduating this past Oct., and I also chose to go the Excelcior College route. It will make working full-time easier, as I don't have to go to classes, just study and test-out on my own. I am currently working in a skilled nursing facility, but looking forward to getting my RN so I can have more opportunites in other areas of nursing. So here's my question... an informal poll, if you will.... what areas of nursing are the rest of you interested in? Or have you even decided yet? I'm not sure, so I guess I'm interested in finding out what other nurses are finding attractive? Thanks in advance if you respond.... )
