Let me start by saying I LOVE my current gig. The hours are perfect, I work with great staff, I have a 15 minutes commute...
BUT, if I were to describe a job where I could be doing anything, I would love to be working out in the community doing home visits for moms with newborns. When I worked as a Nurse Practitioner, I specialized in newborns and all the new babies would come to me for their first pediatrician visit after being discharged from the hospital. I loved all of the teaching, reassuring the worried parents, catching issues before they became a problem, and of course, getting to snuggle with all those sweet babies.
Ideally I would love to find a program where I could use my Spanish and visit at-risk families with new babies. I haven't been able to find anything like this in my community. Like I said, I love what I am doing right now, but I would consider a change if something as I described was an option.
What about everyone else?
Nursing dream job: Getting my PhD and doing psychiatric-mental health research, working 8 hours shifts, M-F, no weekends or holidays.
Non-nursing dream job: Stay-at-home mom, with a small farm (chickens, goats, cows, ducks, sheep), vegetables, and a small shop to sell produce, eggs, baked goods, and homemade crafts. I'd put my kids to work and teach them good business skills :)
Well...I thought ER was my dream job. Now that I'm an ER nurse I'm not so sure. I really enjoyed NICU during nursing school clinical so maybe something down that route...or L&D. Or maybe I don't know what I want.
Updated to include my non-nursing dream job. I'd love to be a stay-at-home mommy! I just don't want to let my license lapse.
While I really do like the job I have now, I wish I would have stayed with travel nursing longer. My goal would be to work in all 50 states then go international
Non nursing, I really like the idea of working in a cute little book store, and as someone else said, lottery winner would be perfect!

If staying in nursing, go back to being a primary care NP or working in an oncology unit in a hospital again.
Non-nursing: Pet shop worker, or (my favorite job I ever had, but the pay sucks,) fast food counter employee. I LOVED working in fast food! Fun and quick pace!
