Where do you stand on "Nurses don't get paid enough"?
Well, coming from someone who's from here and work here, the taxes taken out is more than what I keep. Plus, I'm full time and no dependents, so alot being taken out. That might also be another factor. I'm a socal nurse, but not in the major cities of LA and SD, so the pay rate is personally smaller than those areas, but personally, the pay isn't bad. But with taxes, it changes the perspective.

New Grad: Taking Initiative
Hi, I'm a new grad, first job as a registered nurse and I've only been in orientation for about 2 weeks. Knowing this is my first RN position, I have a difficultiness with taking initiative due to not wanting to make errors and mistakes, plus I'm new to the facility. I am aware I'm a new grad but what can I do to make myself take more initiative in my role as I grow into this new position?

Same hospital job as family member
Our lastname is the only thing similar. She's a really good employee with no disciplinary issues, etc. and no, it did not come up during the interview. It's just something that I'm personally concern about whether it has an impact.

Same hospital job as family member
Hey guys! I applied for a med surg position at a local hospital in my city and got an interview, etc. My only concern to this whole process is that my aunt works for the same hospital and department but she works the night shift and I'll be on the day shift. Plus, she's an LVN and I'm an RN. Does this have an impact on my position? I don't know if I'm overthinking but as we're on different shifts and our schedules can be different, I don't think it should be an issue, but can it?

I am in a little predicament…
The focus right now is you obtaining the job. If you end up getting accepted for the job, take it and for your friend, you can tell them what ended up happening. It's not your fault for interviewing for a job at the same hospital while waiting for the manager. How long are you willing to wait for the manager to call for an interview when you've already applied to the hospital and had an interview?.

Hesi Exit Exam to Nclex
Thank you. Gives me hope

Hesi Exit Exam to Nclex
My school's hesi exit exam isn't a requirement that affects the student's chance of graduating but it's said that the hesi exit exam predicts the chances of passing the nclex. I have taken my third exit exam out of 8 and I failed it. I know I can't predict the future but it sucks feeling like I can't prepare and pass this exam. Has anyone failed the exam but was able to pass the nclex?

Late to clinical
Thanks everyone! I spoke to my general instructor about it and she said, "lets not have it become frequent because it can be problematic and that's when it involves more people from the school" and also, she going to see what I can do to make up the 2 hrs. I was definitely thinking the worse that can happen (like being dismissed) or something but yeah.

Late to clinical
I was late to clinical for the first time and it devastating. My alarm didn't go off and when I finally woke up, I woke up at the exact time clinical starts. So I got ready as fast as I can and because of how far my clinical site was, it took me an hr and half to get there and with traffic, so I was late by 2 hrs. My clinical instructor said that she's going to have to report it/note it because she wants to set an example to the other students in our group so that they'll know they can't get away with coming late and told me to make sure to not come late ever again. This is my first time being late and it's my second semester. I know now I will have multiple alarms set to wake myself up. I just feel extremely bad this happened and it's been days but I'm still hurting.

Opps, broke something? Maybe?
I had clinical on Thursday and during clinical, I was taking vitals for my assigned patients. When I was getting the vitals machine cleaned and ready to go to my next patient's room, the thermometer fell onto the ground. I picked it up and noticed it had a missing piece on it. I'm was unsure if it was already on there or not, so I look on the patient's floor to see if any piece came off and fell on the ground, but I didn't find anything. I did look at the machine and tested it to make sure it still worked and it did. So now I just remembered that incident and I felt that I should have said something. A nurse did come in after I was done testing the machine, but I guess that distracted me or something. I felt that I should have done something. Any input?

What was your gpa-California Comm College
I applied with a 3.0 overall gpa, 3.5 science gpa, and took 2 semesters of Spanish. The school was a point system.
