I know what ICU and NICU are. But what exactly is PCU, CCU, SICU, etc. And what type of patients are there? Just wanted some clarification.
Thanks in advance!:monkeydance:

There's a forum for Critical Care nursing here. You'll probably find a lot of the answers to your question there -- and more!!! Have fun!!

Not sure about PCU ( could be PACU - Post Anesthesia Care Unit).
CCU - Critical Care Unit
SICU - Surgical ICU
MICU - Medical ICU
TNU - Trauma Neurosurigcal unit
IICU - Intermedicate ICU
those are sjust some...some hospitals call depts's diffent things.
Maybe someone knows some more... :balloons:

Where I work we don't do neonatal intensive care but NICU is Neuro Intensive Care. We also have CVICU for Cardio-Vascular ICU

I have not practiced CCU in ten years. Since getting my nursing license back, I was thinking of going back to ICU. no longer a CCRN but I am willing to take on the task.
I don't seem to find any programs offering any such information.
Thanks,
