What color is your stethoscope???

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

I'm starting my nursing program this fall and I've settled on the Littmann Classic II but I can't decide on a color. I was originally going to just get black but I think I may want something a little less common. I was leaning towards maybe ceil blue or rasberry but I'm pretty open to any suggestions. Oh and our scrubs are navy blue :)

I am having the same dilemma , I was trying to decide between the black or burgundy one and now that I know that the Doctors borrow them I think I will go with the burgundy one. Hopefully it will be less of a chance of them running off with it. I'm getting the Littmann's Master Cardiology 27" only because I have a lot of friends that are RN's and they have informed me that I would eventually end up buying that one. So, I guess I will guard it like a hawk.:uhoh3::uhoh3:

Red Littmann Classic II SE. Love it!

Specializes in NeuroICU/SICU/MICU.

Bright red Littmann Cardiology III, it was a graduation present :) Throughout school, though, I used a ceil blue Classic II S.E., though I always envied the raspberry one a classmate had, for some reason :lol2: I also have a royal blue Ultrascope with multicolor glitter on the head, and my name engraved in yellow (blue and yellow were my school colors).

Bought my first Littman from our school's NSNA that were selling them at a small discount. As I remember we only had a choice between black and burgundy Classic II SE. I chose burgundy.

Specializes in Med Surg/Tele/ER.

Purple!!!!!:lol2:

(and yes the Dr's do "borrow" your stethoscope and sometimes don't return it!)

I have a Navy Blue Littmann Master Classic II with my name engraved on it so no-one runs off with it ! My school uniform is navy blue and most hospitals and nursing homes in my region uniforms are navy blue so that influenced my choice.

I also have a cheap bright pink "learning" stethoscope.

Specializes in Plastics. General Surgery. ITU. Oncology.

It's really interesting to read that US nurses all carry a stethoscope and regard it as something of a badge of office.

In the UK where I'm from I've never met a nurse who owns her own stethoscope and I've worked in lots of different settings including ITU. On the rare occasions one is required the cheapo hospital-issue ones are used.

I wonder why that is?

It's always interesting to me to hear how nursing is different in different countries. I'm left wondering how nurses in the UK get by without a stethoscope! :lol2:
