Zero makeup. I never wore any to clinical and I don't wear any make up to work as a nurse. It gets hot when you work and there isn't time for touch ups. I don't want to clog my pores either. Something I love about being a nurse....I don't do anything much with my hair except tie it back and no make up :)
I agree with Grn Tea. I never wear makeup unless there is something special going on, like an interview. I don't have much money either and my money is better off elsewhere.
Also, I find that makeup can be a huge distraction (especially eye makeup) because if you touch it or do anything you are wondering if it is now messed up/looks scary.
Well, being that i look scary as ***** at 0500 in the morning, i need to wear makeup hahah.
Urban Decay Primer potion on eyelids
then choice of eye shadow, usually do like the neutral type colors
eyeliner
blush
my hair.. i put it up in a ponytail bc we arent allowed to wear it down.
for work, i usually do the same makeup thing but ill wear my hair down and put it up if i get into a messy situation hehe
When I was in clinicals, I was working FT, going to NS/clinicals FT in the eve/we program, had kids at home and a hubby in Afghanistan. I wore NO makeup. Sleep was more important!!!
As a FT nurse on the night shift....I wear lotion, mascara and a touch of blush. No one cares what you look like! I also keep my hair pulled back because it goes past my waist and could easily get into some nasty stuff! LOL!
Moisturizer, lipstick and a little nose powder.Anything else is not needed and the lipstick is for me.Eye makeup tends to look nasty after running around and there's usually no time to fuss.People just want a clean nurse who looks like... And smells like they practice good grooming and hygiene!
My routine used to be concealer and foundation (a must because of the redness d/t rosacea), tinted lipbalm and L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes mascara because that mascara will not smudge even at gunpoint.
As a nurse, based on what I've seen come through during clinicals in my facility, I would like to tell nursing students two things.
First, don't apply the makeup like you're going to a club--it doesn't impress the nursing staff and trust me, you do NOT want the romantic attention of my patients :)
Second: waterproof waterproof WATERPROOF! If you spend more time doing touch-ups than being on the floor, you are going to have a serious problem on your hands, especially when your CI comes to the unit asking where you are. I've never lied to CIs as a student--I'm not going to start now.

Do you wear make up to clinicals? What all do you wear?
I wear concealer PRN, foundation, light blush, nude eyeshadow, mascara and clear lip gloss.
If I am feeling especially energetic I will use eyeliner, but that is rare.
As I am a poor nursing student, most of my makeup is cover girl, revalon, etc. The only thing I somewhat splurge on is shadow (I
