What is your clinical makeup routine :)

Do you wear make up to clinicals? What all do you wear?

I wear concealer PRN, foundation, light blush, nude eyeshadow, mascara and clear lip gloss.

If I am feeling especially energetic I will use eyeliner, but that is rare.

As I am a poor nursing student, most of my makeup is cover girl, revalon, etc. The only thing I somewhat splurge on is shadow (I

Moisturizer, a little blush for color, powder, Chapstick. If I'm feeling really frisky, a little mascara. The only time I will add foundation and eyeliner is for a special occasion or if I think my picture might be taken, lol. I near wear eyeshadow...I don't see the point. I like a natural look.

To work:

Make-up forever HD powder, Make-up forever primer, and a Sephora waterproof eyeliner(their brand)..

As far as lips, Rosebud salve has been a savior to brave the harsh New York winters.

I sometimes forget mascara, which is the cheapest component of my make-up collection, but Covergirl lash blast is supreme.

I am obsessed with looking my best every day. So, walking down Lexington from the 86th st. subway stop is not a walk to be made in the roughs. I guess if I lived in an area like Houston, Atlanta, Washington D.C. I would be a little less concerned with my make-up. But, in New York you must maintain the youthful appearance.

Lip balm and moisturizer. Like another post said, I don't wear make-up unless it's for something important!

As a nursing student, I was always conscious to not draw any attention away from my skills. So, I would opt for minimal make-up coverage and no eyeshadow. I think neutrals make be fine, but be cautious not to use any shimmery eyeshadows or too much eyeliner. You want to look as youthful as possible, and as fresh faced throughout the day. Not to mention, make-up on your uniform looks disgusting.

I had one staff nurse who would constantly touch her face in shock..Needless to say, even after washing her hands a couple of times she still appeared to have poor hygiene.

Certainly, since I'm a man I don't wear any make-up, however, I do wear Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 55 sunscreen, every day  Although, most of my female colleagues wear water proof make-up.

I'm not in clinicals yet so this advice is awesome!

I like the mineral powder foundations. They are easy to apply for great coverage and make a light touch up later easy with a little blush, neutral shadow and mascara.

Good for you! I wear the SPF 70 version myself.

As far as for those who do wear makeup...one other thing I meant to share: when it comes to clincial makeup, less is more. The less makeup you wear, the less of it there is to smudge, smear, cake, run, rub off or otherwise annoy you. And while waterproof does last longer, it can still smudge and rub off--it just takes longer to do so than non-waterproof formulas.

So whatever makeup you decide to use--even waterproof--apply it with a light hand for best results.

I wear Bare Minerals. EASY and quick to apply. feels and looks light and natural. I don't always wear eye shadow or mascara. lip gloss, maybe. This was what I wore to clinicals and to work daily.

My face is under a surgical mask the majority of the day, and my hair under a cap... so my beauty concerns are minimal... that being said:

-Moisturizer with SPF (tinted works as a light foundation) I walk 2 miles a day out side to get to the train station, subway to

work and back

- You can find a primer that has a matte effect so it will absorb oil throughout the day

- Cover up (yellow undertone works best under the eyes for those dark circles)

if you have some blemishes you can get a cover up with salicylic acid to both treat and cover it

-Some powder on the t-zone

- Waterproof mascara

-Blush (NARS multipurpose stick in orgasm is great and looks good on EVERYONE and doubles as blush and lip color)

5 mins to apply and I'm out the door

But since we're nurses our smiles (sometimes while gritting out teeth) are usually enough :nurse:
