Just thought it might be nice to have people to chat with over the course of this semester!
I'm taking:
A&P I
Statistics
Speech
Nutrition
School starts for me tomorrow!
I crushed my first A&P exam on Friday! There were 50 multiple choice questions and there was only 4 that I had to reason out. All the others I knew with 100% confidence! I am sooooo relieved. Now I am cramming the axial and appendicular skeletons into my head by Thursday :)
Congratulations!!! Good luck on Thursday
We had our skeletal practical today, sI know it went well. Then we got our muscles chart, and the professor said, "Now you don't have to get started on this now, but maybe just look over it. There are only about 40 muscles on here."
Well, there are actually 61 - plus OIA, of course! The practical is in less than a month, so it's really three sets a day. That's fine - I can do it. But man - I don't know why some people are bothering with this class because their grades are not going to be competitive.
I worry about next semester, too, because this teacher is a flake, but the next one may be more demanding. But you can only do what you can with what's on your plate right now, so I'm trying to let go of that anxiety. Glad to other people online who are as focused (nuts? ) as I am.

Yes!!!! Most of my class received a D or F last exam and were happy they did "better" on the written than they did on the practical. Anatomy is really demanding but I'm honestly wondering why they haven't dropped the class if they're doing so poorly. We have two exams left and the next one is in about two weeks and I don't have too much faith in my classmates, especially since my teacher said this unit can be the easiest or it. can be the hardest.
Feeling I bombed my bone test say a 75 to 80 will find out in 30 minutes.
I kick myself he let's us see the answer key after we hand the test in. 5 questions I marked were the right answer, but I changed them. Kicking myself for that.
Ugh studied an hour Wednesday, 4 on Thursday, 4 on Friday, 4 on Thursday, a hour yesterday, and 30 minutes prior to the exam I studied. I guess I can chalk it up to myself working 6am Sunday to 12am Monday.
Woohoo - skeletal grade posted today, and I earned a 98!!! There were two bonus points, which made up for getting the capitulum of the humerus wrong, and apparently a few other things, too. :) Overall - very happy! Again, thank you for making this a place that we can share our grades without seeming like we're bragging. Nothing wrong with being proud of our hard work!
Axial skeleton? Our next A&P tests are the week of Halloween. Lecture Monday, lab on Wednesday. The lecture test is open book, at home, and an in class essay, so I'm not worried about it. The lab is over muscles - which I'm feeling pretty good about so far. The names are easy for me, so that helps.
I just turned in my "big" speech for speech class yesterday, but I have a light week otherwise. Next week is Stats exam, two quizzes and a journal review.
Feel better soon!
The don't quote me believe axial is 80 bones consisting of the vertebrae, skull/cranium, and thoracic cavity. For it it was. Now on the appendicular skeletal part the upper extremities, lower extremities, and hip bone area 126 bones.

Good Job! I agree, this website is great for encouragement. I don't like sharing my grades with my classmates, it is so competitive that people aren't really happy for you if you do well. My new answer when people ask is "I did better than I thought."
I got a 98 on my lab exam, I am pleasantly surprised. I always feel OK walking out of a test, but as the days pass, I start to doubt myself. Now it's onto the next lecture exam...the muscle physiology is tough! I keep watching every video on you tube that I can get my hands on.

Everyone asks about grades in my class, and I'm tired of getting the sighs/eyerolls when I say I did well. It sucks - I work my butt off for my A's. I'm going to take a page from your book from now on.
Great grades guys! Everyone is doing so well!
This week I have a stats test and a journal review for nutrition. We're also starting a group project for speech (groan).
Next week is the muscle lab exam! I took photos of all the models and printed them out and labeled them (on the back so I can test myself). I'm feeling pretty good about things. A&P lecture exam is on Monday, but that's over the integument system and cardiac/skeletal/smooth muscle tissue (we're always a week or two behind lab in my class).
It'll be time for me to schedule my TEAS soon. Has anyone taken it yet? The application cycle here starts in February, so I may take it in January, then retake in March if I'm not happy with my grade. I've been using an app to study all semester though, I think I'll do okay.
