What classes are you taking? Fall 2016

Published

Just thought it might be nice to have people to chat with over the course of this semester!

I'm taking:

A&P I

Statistics

Speech

Nutrition

School starts for me tomorrow!

Specializes in Emergency.
I checked my schedule today and saw that after next week's test, we get to dissect sheep brains! And the following week we do eyeballs. What dissection do you guys get to do?

We are doing a sheep brain, cow eye, and cow spinal cord in A&P 1.

I was SURE I got at least a 92 on my lecture exam last week, but it was an 88. I shed a tear, but I'll be content knowing I scored above the class average. Today we had the bone lab practical and I think I did very well. I was confident in all my answers except 2. Now I'm focusing on learning all the muscles and studying for the muscle and first part of the nervous system exam a week from tomorrow.

Ohhh a spinal cord, how rad!

An 88 is a great grade! Good job!

Thank you. I'm feeling ok about the 88. I didn't do well on my first lab practical, so I feel like I'm playing catch up a little bit. Either way, I'm going to work had and give this class my all! Which lab practical do you have next Wednesday?

Muscles! I've taken photos of all the models in the lab and created flash cards of them. There are about 85 that we need to know (and then the cell bits and their functions). I think I'm going to do okay.

You will do great! Muscles are my next lab practical as well. Let us know how it goes!

Just popping in to declare how much I detest my Speech class and any/all group projects. I just had to rewrite a four page paper because college level writing is apparently impossible for some. This is a literal excerpt from the paper.

They were each reached and brought together to meet, where they learned about each other and what each of their unique abilities would contribute for the task at hand. In other words to learn what pushed their buttons so that each can avoid those in general. Each Avenger had their doubts of the other and of course the main problem, they each did their own private research and wanted answers to their questions unanswered. The Avengers finally agreed on the bigger picture of the main problem aside of themselves after being attacked all at once. They managed to set aside their differences and came together to stabilize the attack on the ship to focus on the main problem of stopping the opened portal of evil attacking the world.

We're supposed to be identifying the roles of the people in the movie, and different stages of group development.

Posting that probably makes me a jerk, but I have SO MUCH work to do and I just wasted several hours fixing someone's part of the assignment because I can't get a bad grade in this stupid class.

Omg. That's ridiculous!!!

Right? Oh well, I've completed it.

Had my integument/bone/tissue lecture test today. Got a 94. Lab test on Wednesday!

You're amazing! You inspire me to keep working hard in my classes :)

We're doing the biochemistry of muscles right now, age In so grateful for my BIO professor from last semester. He expected so much out of us and worked so hard to help us understand it that this stuff comes fairly easily - once I watch a video five times or so to get all the steps straight!

Have any classes particularly helped you to do well in your pre-reqs?

Also, on a pre-req note - how many of you find that most non-nursing school people don't understand that we're not even IN nursing school yet? People ask me when I'll be done and they're shocked that I haven't even officially begun yet!

Aw, you just made me blush :)

A&P has really helped me with my nutrition class. You have to know all the bits of the guts and enzymes and stuff like that.

Yes, people are always incredulous that I'm not even in nursing school yet. It makes me feel bad for some reason. Maybe they assume nursing is a four year program? Or that it's not two years of pre-reqs? I'm not sure, but I do wish it didn't bother me. I try to throw in the fact that I'm getting my Associate's of Science and my BSN so I sound like I'm working harder than I am ;)
