What caught your attention in the world today?

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Resort to name calling. Cookie cutter "not a Democrat ". LOL

Name calling versus identification based upon evidence from a new account in an election year.  <shrugs>

These type of interactions happen on this platform every election cycle.  New members pretending to be what they are not and telling stories specifically embellished with intent to mislead the reader is commonplace here. There's a pattern.

Remember time go by very fast and at some point everything will pass.

Baloney. You weren't kicked out of the democratic party or liberal politics.  Your projections and dishonesty are embarrassingly obvious.

At this point you have no credibility with unbelievable noise like that.

Your narrative is false, that's about the sum of it.

Do you think when I said I was kicked out  of the democratic party I was saying I was a politician? LOL

It was figurative. The democratic party these days is not open to any independent thought. Democrats that do not aligne exactly with a strict belief system of the radical leftist are not considered Democrats.

I am a free thinker and independence from what a political party says I have to   believe think and/or act. . So there for I no longer meet the approved criteria of today's Democrat party. So I'm kicked out.

Oh no no. I do not think I can mislead anyone here. I generally do not align my activities or daily tasks depending on if it's an election year or not.

No, why would I think that you were a politician?

Projecting the shortcomings of Trump's Republican Party onto Democrats just isn't going to fly here.  That might be your opinion but it's far from fact.  You must think that none of us know that it's Republicans who tell members of their party that they aren't REALLY Republicans, they are Republicans in name only.  I'm sure you're familiar with that weird phenomenon and can't imagine why you think that kind of gas lighting is going on work here.  I'm quite certain that you can't even give us an example of a democratic politician getting called a Democrat in name only because they weren't sufficiently liberal.

Again, baloney.  You weren't kicked out of the democratic party and your posts here reflect right wing rhetoric, not free thinking.

You should stop pretending then and just be genuine.

Robert F Kennedy comes to mind. Tulsi Gabbard too.

And no Baloney, you are right. I wasn't literally kicked out of the democratic party LOL. Like someone said" you are kicked out of our party" LOL it's called a figure of speech. Kinda of like your member name

You give me too much credit. I'm here in passing and have no will or desire to progectt anything or try and gasslight a nursing forum LOL

What is "right wing rhetoric "? Anything you don't agree with? Again, my point is being made for me.

I have mentioned Trump once or twice. You seem to not be able to stop talking about him.

I do not need a political party to tell me how to think.

No one told anyone that either of those people weren't democrats.  If they are thought of as other than Democrats, that's on them.  Tulsi Gabbard didn't leave the Democratic Party because she was told she didn't belong there, neither did RFK Jr. That is a misrepresentation.  It's an attempt to gaslight me.

That's right, you tried to pass your baloney as reality and now you're laughing it off.

I'm not giving you any credit.  I'm here to have genuine discussions about issues and reality, you're here telling stories.   I'm quite certain that you are "only here in passing", that's part of the pattern.

Which part right wing rhetoric do you not understand, right wing or rhetoric? What was your point?

Does it bother you that I talk about the man most dangerous to our Democracy and rule of law? His lawyers just argued to the SCOTUS that he should have blanket immunity for any crimes committed when he was President.  How does the rule of law work when one man is not accountable to the law?

Correct, you most certainly don't need to let anyone else tell you how to think.  Why are you thinking that it's a good idea to elevate a man who essentially wants to be king and already told lies about our elections and tried to overturn election results?  Do you independently think that's a good idea?

Democrats, Johnson told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt last week, "move in a herd" and "act like a union" following their leader because there's no diversity of opinion causing them to stray. Their groupthink could even be described as the behavior of "socialists,” he asserted. Republicans, however, can't be forced to unite because they're "rugged individualists.”

"We're deeply principled and philosophical, and it's difficult to get us to move in tandem sometimes,” Johnson said. "That's a blessing. I love that part — except when you have a one-vote margin.”

Principled:

adjective

always behaving in an honest and moral way

Cambridge Dictionary

I think it must be difficult to manage a "very principled" political party that also does the political bidding of the most unprincipled in our history man to hold the presidency.  How does that work exactly?

That pesky right to peacefully protest and use freedom of speech.

Sorry, have to disagree here.  I graduated from Columbia and if I were still a student, I would feel very uncomfortable (more so as a Jew) walking to a class on the main campus.  I would never support the idea of guns being used.  When people protest against all of Israel, they are protesting against the protesters in Israel.  It's not their choice where Columbia wishes to invest and never should be because looks what happens.  If they really want to make a point of their virtue, they would just transfer to another school.  I borrowed, worked and paid my own way through and would be mad as hell if I couldn't get to a main campus class.

No one really believes they are simply being "pesky" exercising their right to protest.  Some here like to practice their own brand of propaganda, and I wondered why you'd bother to reply to it.

But, then the rest of your post made some good points that I hadn't thought of.  Especially about them moving on to another college if they're really so offended.

Nice post.

Learned it from Judge Judy.  "If you don't like it, leave" is her mantra to people who don't pay their rent and get sued.  I haven't seen her in years.  Maybe it's a misplaced appreciation of tough Brooklyn women:)

Don't know if this has been covered already or if I should post it here but can I ask, does "Kent State University" mean anything to these bozos?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings

As a PS to this I am not commenting on the rights or wrongs of the demonstration - that's another conversation - but it's the ease which politicians think getting people with rifles in to deal with students is a good thing.

I remember exactly where I was when that shooting happened.  It was like the Ke nedy assassinations.  What a dangerous comment to make considering the topic at hand.  Dufus stripes again.  I guess he thinks Trump will like him better now.
