I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

I read it on CNN and Gas Buddy. I don’t know about Gas Buddy, but I think CNN is starting to lean right. But aren’t they headquartered in Atlanta?

CNN's outreach is far and wide, but yes they are headquartered in Atlanta. Atlanta went for Biden, is majority African American and has a very large LBGT community that tends to vote blue. If they are turning right it would be from the center.
I haven't noticed they are turning right myself. I think with Trump out of the White House they have toned down a little bit.
I've always took notice how they cover stories compared to Fox. Admittedly Fox does rent space in my head. Today CNN says "Elon Musk takes over Twitter, fires CEO". Fox headline banner at the top of their homepage (I didn't click to read) says "Elon Musk's Twitter takeover makes the left lose it: "This is an emergency!"
QuoteWhile precedent of previous outbreaks of human infections from contact with animals favors the hypothesis that a natural zoonotic spillover is responsible for the origin of SARS-CoV-2, the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 that resulted in the COVID-19 pandemic was most likely the result of a research-related incident. This conclusion is not intended to be dispositive. The lack of transparency from government and public health officials in the PRC with respect to the origins of SARS-CoV-2 prevents reaching a more definitive conclusion. Should additional information be made publicly available, and subject to independent verification, it is possible that these conclusions would be subject to review and reconsideration.
One thing when looking at this would be to note it's from the GOP Senate. Not that it's not true but research bias should be considered. I think if they've been salivating at going after Fauci and if they take over congress it's on their wish list.
I can understand that if they aren't getting the information from lack of transparency that's a problem.
Fauci, doesn't seem to be worried at least on the outside. The man that treated his life and pleaded guilty got three years.

Exxon and Chevron Rack Up Giant Profits https://nyti.ms/3sC3D2K
QuoteExxon’s profit of $19.7 billion from operations topped the previous quarter’s $17.9 billion. The oil giant’s latest quarterly profit was nearly triple what it made in the same period last year. It cited oil and natural gas output as major contributors, along with cost cutting.
The company said its production in the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico was its highest ever, as was the volume of its North American refining. “The investments we’ve made, even through the pandemic, enabled us to increase production to address the needs of consumers,” Darren Woods, the chief executive, said in a statement.
The consumers need for the companies to have record profits while prices at the pump are at alarming highs?
Those new Jim Crow laws not working so well.
"The president was among many Democrats last year who criticized Georgia’s Republican-passed Election Integrity Act as a right-wing attempt to suppress Black votes. In October 2021, Biden described the law as "Jim Crow in the 21st Century." In January of this year, the president described the law as "Jim Crow 2.0."
"After one full week of in-person early voting in Georgia, nearly 838,000 people have already cast their ballots in an election that is expected to shatter midterm records.
According to an analysis of absentee data from the secretary of state's office, turnout is nearly 60% higher than the same point in time in the 2018 general election, thanks in part to record voter interest and the increasing shift in voters utilizing the state's three-week early voting period.
Looking at the demographics of Georgia's voters so far, the electorate is older and Blacker than this time in previous elections, as tightly contested races for U.S. Senate, governor and other statewide offices is driving voter enthusiasm."

The article includes several quotes and Tweets that support the claim that the left is losing it.
For example, here is the context of the quote you included, "This is an emergency."
"Liberal academic and journalism professor Jeff Jarvis' reaction upon hearing the news was, "The sun is dark." Earlier in the day, he had warned, "This is an emergency! Twitter is to be taken over by the evil Sith lord."
Because of Bolsonaro, Millions of Brazilians Distrust Elections https://nyti.ms/3NekpyA
QuoteFor many supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro, Sunday’s presidential election in Brazil can have just two possible outcomes: They celebrate or they take to the streets.
That is because, they say, his defeat can only mean the vote was rigged.
“There’s a lot of fraud,” said Kátia de Lima, 47, a store clerk at a rally for Mr. Bolsonaro this month. “It’s proven.”
At the same rally north of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Roberto, 55, a government worker, said, “Anyone who votes for Bolsonaro is worried about the voting machines.”
And Fabrício Frieber, a lawyer from the state of Bahia, added, “Bolsonaro has been warning us.”
Throughout his presidency, Mr. Bolsonaro has methodically questioned and criticized the security of Brazil’s electronic voting system, despite the lack of credible evidence of a problem. Now, at the end of his first term, it is clear that his attacks have had an effect: Much of Brazil’s electorate has lost faith in the integrity of their nation’s elections.
Do the claims of election fraud sound familiar?

No it supports an idea of what they want their public to think, not the reality in my opinion. One can always find someone saying something to support an agenda.
Left wing media Daily Kos and Alternet doesn't even mention it. CNN has booted it off it's headlines. It certainly is a worthy news story but the "left is losing it" doesn't ring true to me. Are some on the left "losing it"? Perhaps. But you're entitled to view the world as you see it.
I will say if he reinstated Trump then the left will indeed lose it. I'm keeping my Twitter account for now. I learn a lot there about news events and health related stuff.
Fox News has booted it down as well in favor of the attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband in his home.

Certainly headlines are designed to generate clicks, and they provided examples to back it up. But yes, it is subjective.
WaPo and NYT are both have live updates on the story, which seems a bit much.

I think it's a bit much. I went over to WaPo and it's interesting to see the coverage.
The racists are having fun, so perhaps the left's strong reaction is justified?
QuoteAn emboldened cast of anonymous trolls spewed racist slurs and Nazi memes onto Twitter in the hours after billionaire industrialist Elon Musk took over the social network Thursday, raising fears of how his pledge of unrestricted free speech could fuel a new wave of online hate.
Twitter has struggled to enforce its rules against harassment and extremism, and the company has not yet published any broad-scale changes to its content-moderation policies.
