What caught your attention in the world today?

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Why the past tense? Lots and lots of us are currently concerned that there are still too many people who will act irrationally and violently because they are sufficiently inflamed by Trump's lies.  Has something transpired that has changed Trump's tone or the angry agitation of his biggest fans?

Past tense? There hasn't been any violence regarding his call to protest.

So you are going to get all outraged about something that hasn't happened? Mkay.... Or are you not so secretly disappointed you don't have something else to rant on endlessly about how Trump is bad?

So, apparently, hush money payments are commonplace.  I wonder if illegal hush payments are commonplace or if Tucker just assumes that Cohen went to prison because no laws were broken in that transaction.

What? You believe Tucker? Don't you know he is involved in a defemation case? Why would anyone take him seriously?

The heart beat comment by me was factual with no moral component for or against a abortion. It is factual that when an abortion is performed, if not already present and if fetal demise has not already occurred, it is factual that when the fetus is removed during an abortion, the heart or cardiac activity will cease. I know of no cardiologists procedure that strives to stamp a hear from beating, do you? Do yes, the equivalent is false and ridiculous.  Hyperbole.

I wasn't referring to the moral/legal heart beat controversy.

Medical professionals don't always get everything correct. Many times medical Dr has changed their stance on procedures and/or medications. It seem this Dr is realizing the risk to the young 12 year old that he may not have fully considered. Perhaps he should have sooner. So what's your problem? That it took to long? As I can assume you support abortion for any reason when the decision is made between a woman her her health practitioner? So isn't it a good thing that he is reconsidering these implications?

Other medical areas do not concern the end of a potential life. Nor do they demand government funding. That's why they are not political. Unless of course you don't include vaccine mandates.

I firm my opinion about you from the things you say in your post. I'm sorry if you think they are not accurate.

The problem is that the legislators rushed through a restrictive abortion law without bothering to fully consider the ethical, moral, or individual consequences of such law.  As a result the 12 year old suffers...oops. if only her llegislators had been deliberative and measured in their approach rather than hurried and extreme they might have caught their error before the general public was subjected to it.  Or at least the child bearing portion of the public.

What's my problem?  My problem is that republican legislators rushed through antiabortion laws without considering the real life implications of their laws in more than one state.  They've caused confusion, chaos, extra costs and actual harm, apparently because of their zeal to regulate before thinking.

What are you talking about relative to government funds?  The government is involved in funding all kinds of medical care.

Your opinions of me are yours, and they are largely irrelevant to the general discussion but you frequently mention them. I know all about how you think I think or what you believe I believe or understand, etc.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for the second "insurrection" and "domestic terrorism" you all were sure Trump was inciting about his calls to protest..... .......

No I don't believe him.  I think that he is continuing with his narrative that Trump is somehow a victim of political witch hunts and that the 2020 election results were not accurate... this is just the new story.  He's normalizing hush payments for conservatives.  Can't you tell?  Isn't it obvious?

So much that used to be unacceptable has been normalized for conservatives today... people once got upset about lying about oral sex but now lying about paying hush money to Media stars during a campaign is defendable. Weird, huh?

You are right. They should have taken more consideration in reference to a situation like the 12 year old girl. It's still a positive they are now. Again, they don't always get it correct the first time.

The Republicans could have done a better job in considering the impl8cation of their laws. I agree.

Doesn't change the fact this Dr seems to be reconsidering. That is a good thing.

Weird you included oral sex and a prone star in one paragraph.

There are many unacceptable things happening in our current political state. However I can't imagine you seeing past your bias to acknowledge that.

It was a reference to the impeachment of Clinton for lying about his inappropriate sex for contrast to the acceptance of Trump's lies about sex related matters (and nearly everything else).

Most of our discussions and topics have some relationship to unacceptable things happening in our current political state.

I agree. I doubt that you could imagine that I might be able to see past a bias.

I think having sexual relations with a intern in the oval office while you are the POTUS is a whole lot worse than having an alleged affair with a Media star years before you were POTUS LOL.

Sure. But you missed the point again.

I wonder if that has anything to do with not being able to get past bias?

"They're singling out transgender people for no other reason than dislike, disapproval and misunderstanding of who transgender youth are,” said Paul Castillo, senior counsel and students' rights strategist for Lambda Legal. "And the entire school population suffers as a result of these types of bills, particularly schools and teachers and administrators who are dealing with real problems and need to focus on creating a welcome environment for every student.”

The proposals are among a record number of bills filed to restrict the rights of transgender people by limiting or banning gender-affirming care for minors, banning transgender girls from school sports and restricting drag shows. Transgender people have also faced increasingly hostile rhetoric at statehouses.

Another bill pending in Arkansas goes even further than the North Carolina law by imposing criminal penalties. That proposal would allow someone to be charged with misdemeanor sexual indecency with a child if they use a public restroom or changing room of the opposite sex when a minor is present.

Arkansas is currently 11th in teen suicides.  Looks like Governor Huckabee Sanders is aiming to be #1.

"Prone star".  That's what happens when one is not careful with their words - bad puns.  This person probably isn't old enough to remember Clinton's dalliance.

Arkansas has a long-standing teacher shortage.  It's completely understandable why it won't improve when teachers are required to become a part of a gestapo.  Another poor state that just keeps shooting itself in the foot in a revolving door of poverty.
