What caught your attention in the world today?

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Nor are they from the conservative MSM.  These aren't research studies to answer any particular questions but just rants; not a respectable consersative writer among them.  I think of them as Jim Jordan level activism.

Well I guess you would think that since they are not from the liberal main steam news. You do realize that the MSN is quite left leaning and has been for quite awhile!  Some issues do not need a "research study" when it is completely obvious.

I think there should be a complete dissolution of political parties. It seems so easy to blame and point fingers and it does NO good at all but set folks up against each other. Blame, blame, blame. Doesn't really matter who think they are right or wrong; If we keep on going the way things have been turning, there will be no reasonable resolutions, nor any satisfying compromises.  I think all the stonewalling going on today is against what the USA was planned to be. And no, I don't want to cite any sources, I'm just spouting off. I do not understand either how these political "discussions" accomplish anything at all. Who is convincing whom?

NO ONE.

Y'all are like a bunch of BB's shot into an empty boxcar, endlessly ricocheting around ....

I have been saying this for years. I don't think that either party is working for we the people anymore. They are in it for their own benefit and we all suffer. I really don't know how much longer we can go on, sooner or later the bubble will burst. The elites only care about the elites and they of course will be fine. But the rest of us, good luck!

I have always come here to give a different opinion since the posters here are mostly liberals but you are correct in that they don't really want to hear the other opinions hence the blocking of those posters. It is beyond sad that we can't even listen to each other anymore because that is how we all will be able to 'stand united'.

Using the term Marxist seems rather polarizing and indicates a lack of interest in exchanging ideas.

I do not believe that all of government is elite. I ser decreasing inflation and a strong job market as positive. I am happy to see the price of insulin come down. Seeing all the car charging stations come in seems good. And I love our national parks.

More race baiting division that will not solve a thing. We have had affirmative action and a "war on poverty" for a very long time now. No slaves here in the US for a very long time, and never in California. I thought the Democrat party stood for equity, taking tax money away from tax payers to pay people for something that happed so long ago that had zero to do with them is not equity at all. We have spent 21 trillion dollars on the war on poverty with nothing to show for it, numbers are down and situation only gets worse. Why must the Democrats continue to throw tax payer money out the window every chance they get. So, poor white people who had zero to do with slavery will pay rich and poor black people even though they have zero fault of their own. Does that sound like equity, or fair treatment?

And 5 million to every black person in San Fran, just WOW!!
One more reason why people are leaving California, because of the ridiculous social programs that cost an arm and an egg.
And of course the Federal gov is trying this also. Does make one wonder what their end game is.

I don't see that all gov is elite either, it is just the ones that are elites are the ones running the show. Some people see the Dems policies as Marxist/socialist etc (including Reperations) so it is a fair point of discussion. Inflation is only slightly dropping and that is after a sky high increase so not much to boast about there, and some are saying we can expect it to get worse in the second half of this year. If people want EV cars and it works for them then great. But it should not be shoved off on people who don't want them. Do the people who are pushing for this realize what is involved in the making and continued maintenance of these vehicles. Expensive batteries and the environmental concerns of said battery. Where and how we get the parts to make the battery (minerals etc). And how much electricity it takes to charge/use. Not sure this is the answer and California is also banning the sell of gas cars in a few years. Yeah can't see how this could go bad.

So other than reparations ( which is not on the national democratic platform) which democratic proposals are Marxist? I hardly think using new technologies for transportation is radical, it's been happening since horse and buggy days.
Inflation continues to decrease that's  not a boast, that's a fact.
Meanwhile what is the Republican Congress focused on? The son of the president, who has never held office, who is already under investigation.

If we have to point out all the Marxism that relates to the Democratic Party you would just deny it anyways.

Including the fact that the Dems are in Committee and have been gearing up for reparations for awhile now. Probably only a matter of time, unless they are just saying it to try to keep the black votes that keep making their way to the Republicans (because they see the truth that the Democrats are not helping them/their communities but only hurting them). Oh wait, I saw Lori Lightfoot dancing in the street again, maybe that will help the black communities in Chicago?!

You don't know what Marxism even is. You just use the word as a weapon to avoid an actual discussion. Sad.

I have no idea what committee you are talking about. Is this a state thing? Lori Lightfoot? Is she the latest target for derision? I can guess why...

Dems are on their way to reparations. IMO it is the newer Democratic policies that are hurting the black communities at this present time (ie not from slavery). Either way, I do agree that the Government should offer an apology and if they want to pay reparations then it should come out of they're deep pockets. And esp the Democrats because it is their policies that have hurt the black people the most then and now.  The American people should not have to pay for the atrocities of the Government, but of course we all know they won't pay out of their pockets but we sure will! Not equity!!

As I said before we have sky high inflation and have had for a while, so the fact it is coming down a minuscule amount doesn't really help people or mean to much.

LOL, you were fine with the Dems and their media ripping up Trump and family for 4 years but we should not investigate Hunter, OK.

I was pointing out the Mayor of Chicago who is literally dancing (as usual) while Rome is burning. Maybe her time would be better spent trying to solve the problem of why there are so many murders in her city, and mostly black lives. I am surprised that BLM isn't helping her.
