What caught your attention in the world today?

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

No, not that hard.

However,  getting rid of the teacher seems a bit extreme.

"According to Geraghty, the school did not consider an “accommodation” for her, such as allowing her to avoid using pronouns completely and refer to a student by their last name only. Nor did the school consider the possibility of transferring either Geraghty or the students seeking to be called by their preferred names and pronouns to a different class, she says."

Both sides digging in their heels to make a point.  Rediculous, especially considering that it seems like it wouldn't be hard to not use any pronouns.

Funny thing... she also didn't think that maybe using their last name or requesting a transfer would be better than simply refusing to respect the student's request... she simply refused to comply because to do so would make her feel uncomfortable in her religious "faith".

I call BS. It doesn't sound like the teacher made any attempt to honor the students, preferring to make her beliefs and discomfort the centerpiece of the discussion.

I am having trouble providing a link on my phone, but the governor of Florida is announcing his own public health organization, to refute the CDC, the Public Health Integrity Committee. And his surgeon general is looking for proof of myocarditis is people who die within 2 weeks of immunization. Seems like a small pool to draw from.

And every time that governor brags about keeping the state open, I wish he would on number of deaths.

DeSantis has a covid crackpot running the state's public health.  He's certain that the covid vaccines are dangerous.

I wonder if the state's surgeon general will look into promotion of Ivermectin and other bogus treatment plans.  You know... like the covid nonsense that he spread.

I'm fine with this and think that someone who is moving right of Trump will be discarded by the voters.  It's not MY tax dollars that are being spent on his campaign funding which is what this is all about.

I get why we would be discussing it in politics.  I didn't even question that.  What I meant was, I thought it was peculiar that the story was in CNN's politics section.

I was all in for the original round of doses.   And then even the booster.  I know they saved lives and helped us get back to normal.

I wasn't as comfortable when it was recommended for children, and then young children.  Then another booster, and talk of more.

Pfizer and Moderna didn't sell these at cost.  They are making huge profits.  Maybe it's good to take a closer look at what exactly they knew about efficacy, varients, side effects, etc and when.

Maybe the DeSantis panel finds out it is all on the up and up.

I suppose there may be some political angle to it.  But, I don't see how DeSantis benefits from any potential result.  And, doubtful that this is a quick process.  Will probably take years.

CDC once said the vaccinated don't carry the virus.  Fauci once said the vaccinated are a dead for the virus.

The medical community was once fooled into thinking oxycontin was non-addictive.

People have a reason to be leary.

BTW, I recommend watching "Dopesick", with Michael Keaton.

It definitely has a political agenda attached to it and it is being done to increase his followers.  At once we may have all been skeptical about getting the vaccines but we got them. Imagine hearing your worse fears possibly coming to light, it will pique people’s interest

Machete in hand, Manuel Pérez Rivas sliced his way through the jungle. He stepped carefully over moss and rock and mud, gaiters to protect his ankles from rattlesnakes.

The ground began to slant sharply upward. As Pérez approached the top of what appeared to be a small hill, he spotted a chiseled rock — a pale brick carved from limestone. He scanned the ground around him.

It took him a moment to realize: He was standing upon a giant, buried Maya pyramid.

“Dios mio,” he said. “My God.”

Then he noticed other humps of earth rising from the jungle floor. It was more than just one pyramid.

Pérez and his team were at the center of a hidden, previously undiscovered Maya village.

Is she refusing because of her religious beliefs or because of her feelings based upon her religious beliefs.  I was really hoping that the article would articulate what specifically in her faith elevated her feelings about pronouns above the student's feelings about pronouns. She must not be Christian because that is not reflective of the teachings of The Christ.

Editing to reflect that yes the woman identified as Christian.  She said;

What a crock.

https://lawandcrime.com/lawsuit/ohio-teacher-says-school-forced-her-to-resign-after-she-refused-to-call-students-by-their-preferred-names-pronouns/

Hmmm. This one is tricky…
People strive to be like Christ and live Christ like lives but we are not him, We should with honesty and purity make every effort to be and that’s all he ask of us. No man is perfect,  no not one.

That said, this lady…okay…. I guess she was trying to take a stand IDK . I can see what you’re saying about her feelings about her beliefs which is contradictory because your feelings also dictate your actions which in her case should have come from a place of love if she truly is saying that it is her Christian beliefs driving her decision.

I suspect we will see much more of these types of issues and not because there are so many new things happening in the world . I think it’s because we are approaching these new happenings in the world the wrong way,  from the wrong place, and it’s not from a place of love and mutual respect for one another.  This would require a level of maturity that some people just don’t have.
