What are the best schools for LPN training

I am considering attending an LPN program but I do not know whereto start. Most community colleges in my city of Phila,Pa doesn't offer it and the reviews from these tech schools are horrible and very $$$.Prism, Lincoln tech, PIT are the choices.... Does anyone have any suggestions, please????

Moved to PA State Nursing program forum to elicit further response. You can always check with the state board of nursing as to which schools are approved to offer programs in practical nursing.

Have you thought about a out of state program.

Dont know about your area I live in upstate NY in NY the BOCES technical schools run the LPN programs they are state run and pretty decent ovreall although I didnot get a hospital experince as part of my clinicals. probably a 2 + hour drive from where you from . Not sure about New Jersey programs.

Girl I did a review on Lincoln Tech LPN program in center city go search for it ughhhh and Ive heard that Eastern Center for Arts & Technology and Delaware County Technical School are excellent and good schools and PIT was ok.

There are quality programs like Eastern Tech in Montgomery county that have a great track record in producing LPNs, also New Courtland has a LPN school, which is in Philadelphia...they are affiliated with area nursing homes, so job prospects look pretty good...Ah, and a favorite, 1199C LON program, lots if good LPNs became RNs I've been fortunate to work with.

I HIGHLY suggest 1199C or Eastern...they are last schools in the Philly area that were highly reputable LPN programs-James Martin closed, Presbyterian Hospital (which had credits that transferred to CCP) closed, and my alma mater Episcopal Hospital SON closed.

top best in PA as far as for job placement after the program, price, and the faculty

Lincoln tech of NE philadelphia 12 months

Prism career institute NE philadelphia 15 months

PITC ( glenside ) 12 months

PIT is ok but their passing rate is kind of low 12 months

i will be attending the PRISM career institute because its the closest to me and i get the most financial aid. plus theyve actually motivated me more into attending as far as ACTUALLY showing me proof of their successful students and places that hire their graduates the most!

as far as their entrance requirements

you first take a 12 minutes test. you get 2 tries.

once your passed that. your scheduled to take the TEAS test. they pay for you to take it TWICE! other schools you pay $50 or more your first and second time lol

after completing that. your scheduled for a meeting with the nursing board along and financial aid. thats pretty much it!

i start april 8th 2013 . wish me luck!!!

Delaware County Technical School usually has mid 90's pass rate on NCLEX; Bucks County Comminuty College also great pass rates -- add them to the lost of schools to consider.

1199C pass rates have been variable

Delaware County Technical School LPN program in Broomall. Its well known in the area, has great reviews, and is cheaper than Lincoln Tech, and P.I.T! I start in Feb. but I've friends who love it, and are getting ready to graduate!

Ensure the program you attend is an accredited school (ACEN) as well as having above average NCLEX pass rates. If you want to continue on a nursing career path, you'll want to attend a school that is an investment in your future. Be willing to travel a few extra miles outside the city limits and attend an open house at the Chester County Intermediate Unit Practical Nursing Program in Downingtown.
