So I'm sure there are probably some old threads about this, but what would you do if you hadn't gotten into nursing school, passed NCLEX, or not gotten that first job in the nursing field? What would your backup plan have been? Or what did you do before nursing? If you left nursing, why and what do you do now?
I'm just being curious, but I suppose I can start. If I hadn't gotten into nursing school, I would have become either a math teacher or gone into law and done family type stuff.
I wish I had been born into the right circumstances to make medical school work for me. I would likely have ended up an oncologist or palliative care doctor (eventually.) This route isn't too bad though :)

I like to keep my artsy side to myself because I don't think I'm very good at all that (as much as I love singing and drawing and painting).
Art is a very personal endeavor and experience that does not always have to be shared or its product interpreted as being "good". I mean after all, Nurse Yoshi, aren't good and bad relative?
Art, as an organic expression, is such a great balance to nursing, which is linear and adheres to rules and guidelines.
If I were like 18, Anthropology. I like people, but I prefer to study their societies, behaviors, etc... But, if I could go back to school at this stage, I'd do Social Work.
I would have been a band director. I played clarinet, French horn, piano, alto sax, and piano. I never would have been able to play professionally - I was never that good - but I have always loved music.
I'm pretty sure I would have had to leave teaching early. Crowd control was never my forte, and the lack of discipline that I see in the kids now-a-days would probably have done me in.
