What advise would you give to your younger self?

Hello all,

What advise would you give to your younger self? I will start. Things are going to be just fine, God will take care of you. You are good enough, you are beautiful just the way you are. Your present state does not determine your future. Visualization is a powerful tool. No one is perfect, don't always believe what you hear.

Specializes in LTC, CPR instructor, First aid instructor..

Get your nursing education earlier than you did.

I will tell myself to remain strong and focused on my goals. To not fear the unknown......Ah if I could reverse time.

Don't listen to my mother.

Take the Health Records Diploma.

Don't worry about what people think. As long as you haven't hurt anyone and can look yourself in the mirror, you'll be fine.

Specializes in Operating Room.

Everything will be alright.

Specializes in Acute Care Psych, DNP Student.

Don't let your thoughts be consumed by fear.

Specializes in Acute Care Cardiac, Education, Prof Practice.

I would say "Make all the decisions you did, because those will make you the person I am, however skip dating that skuzzball Robin who liked to have "dirty chat" on the computer with strangers and didn't have a job".

LOL! I should have included for myself: "skip dating that skuzzball who left you stranded in Vegas when you were 19."

You are being given an opportunity to attend a well known and prestigious University for FREE TUITION because your Mom works hard in the Dining Services. TAKE IT!!

You got into the University on your own accord and scolastic accomplishments, not because your mom works there..think Pixie, wouldn't it be better for them to DENY you and save themselves money than to admit you and give you a free tuition if you didn't deserve it?! And although you didn't get into the nursing program it wasn't because you weren't smart enough, it was because you didn't have the necessary classes in high school to get in. GIVE YOURSELF SOME CREDIT!!

You think its "not worth it" to go to that Uni because it will take you five years as opposed to 4 to get your BSN? An additonal year isn't a life time..STOP YER WHINNING AND SUCK IT UP!

Lastly, do it while your young. You could have been a nurse for 18 years now, instead of doing it now!! DO IT WHILE YOUR YOUNG!

(ahhh the thoughts that go through an 18 year olds mind...silly youngster..you had NO idea)

Specializes in Pediatrics, Oncology, Triage and Med/Surg.

I would say tell family members how much you love and appreciate them because they are sometimes taken away too early, things always happen for a reason and lastly....good job dumping the jerk who told you he would marry you when you weighed 100 lbs!! :D

I'll go with that one.....

Also, make a plan, do not deviate it from it unless absolutely necessary and DO IT NOW before you get any older..................
