What A Freak!

An Absolute freak!!!

I had a patient last nite that had just delivered, and her visitors were absolutely LOONY! She was nice as could be, although slightly strange, but she had visitors that were awful! Two were so obviously high or drunk or something.... then one of them (while I was in the room with her) grabbed the baby med box (all the resuscitation meds, etc) from outside the room and put it under his coat and ran!!! The other nurses saw him, and called the police, and they caught the guy in the middle of a creek a few yards from the hospital. It's the most ASININE thing I have ever seen! I mean, he also took pit, narcan, EES ointment, and saline!?!?!?! I was kinda hoping that he woulda gotten away with the Narcan, woulda been funny to see his face when he lost his high he was on.. and then maybe shot up some epi for a good time!!! LOL:roll Oh my, I guess we see all kinds! This guy is going to jail for stealing cardiac meds!!! lol... it just cracks me up!

You know, this makes me think of some family's bizarre reactions to death. I was going to start a thread on it, but I wasn't sure how it would come across.

But the most bizarre was the guy who came up to the floor, saw his father was dead, ran around the unit, burst out of the exit doors, ran downstairs, flung himself into the grass and started eating the grass. WTF??

Okay - over in General Nursing Discussion. I started it.

I live in an area where this has happened......lots of drug use in this area....and.....there are a lot of weirdos and druggies out there. We are not allowed to keep ANY syringes, needles, meds or anything of the sort in patient care areas unless in immediate use for this reason. These things are under lock and key in the med room and the meds are in Pyxis. It can be a pita..you have to run for the med box and syringes, at delivery....to sorta get around this, i usually fill my pockets with what i need to avoid running at the last min. But until delivery is imminent and we are IN THE ROOM AT ALL TIMES, none of these items can be in the room. Now you see why.
