I had a patient last nite that had just delivered, and her visitors were absolutely LOONY! She was nice as could be, although slightly strange, but she had visitors that were awful! Two were so obviously high or drunk or something.... then one of them (while I was in the room with her) grabbed the baby med box (all the resuscitation meds, etc) from outside the room and put it under his coat and ran!!! The other nurses saw him, and called the police, and they caught the guy in the middle of a creek a few yards from the hospital. It's the most ASININE thing I have ever seen! I mean, he also took pit, narcan, EES ointment, and saline!?!?!?! I was kinda hoping that he woulda gotten away with the Narcan, woulda been funny to see his face when he lost his high he was on.. and then maybe shot up some epi for a good time!!! LOL:roll Oh my, I guess we see all kinds! This guy is going to jail for stealing cardiac meds!!! lol... it just cracks me up!

One of those nights where I was on call, Got called in at 3 am emerg c section. It was evident that the mother was a user. Family was allowed in to experience the wonderous event of birth,the CRNA was setting up and everyone in the room was getting ready to begin the case, the CNRA motioned to another RN in the room. One of her syringes with propofol (60cc) was missing, and she was sure it was there , she had 2 one was in her hand the other *poof*.The only person that was even close to her cart was the fob. We contiued the case and delivered the baby (fetal alcohol syndrome) and probably other issues with the infant, apgar 6 apgar 7. When the fob went to see his baby, one of the nursery nurses noticed a buldge in his back pocket. We contiued case and closed and moved mother to ob. Security detained fob, police removed him. Mother "walked out" during sometime at 3rd shift. Left child there.
ya know the PC pump story reminded me of another infamous seeker/frequent flyer....her hubby had some kind of surgery and was on a PCA.....SHE was using a syringe to aspirate MS from the tubing between the pump and the pt.....go figure......LR
HOWEVER I AM NOT LMAO ABOUT THESE POOR BABIES BEING BORN TO SUCH KOOKY PEOPLE....HOPEFULLY, THEY WILL BE PLACED IN A GOOD HOME WITH PARENTS WHO ACTUALLY LOVE THEM.
