All of the good and bad...i want to hear it ALL...trying to make up my mind..my bestest friend just signed her life away with them.

What is TCN ?

If you choose not to use one of these companies, how do you get started ?

I am interested in Associates.

Are you referring to utilizing a local university or community college? Really the only thing to do is look on the web at some of the community colleges in your area, find out if they offer a ADN program and what the requirements or prerequisites are for beginning.

Hey Guys...

Wow what a Thread... Well I noticed alot about dislikes and Likes... Often the dislikes were opinions other than Facts like... Instructors were Poor or They left me Hanging...

I'm enrolling into the RN to MSN thru TCN... With Regis University...

I had to have 3 modules... Stats... World religion... and Upper division... I think marketing... Hey for 2500 dollars to Test out of them... Is less expensive then taking the Test at My local community college... Where there is No Gaurantee that I pass... this kind of Obvious... In my opinion...

Im not the Kind of guy with Kids... or a Complicated lifestyle.. I pretty much work and Hang out... I know great!!! lol But I do have huge dreams... So the faster I get done with it the better...

If you was to go to a university and do classroom... it adds 1 or more years on to the planned 3 with TCN...

So when you put it that way... Then I say TCN all the way...

Also on TCN part... Yes it is a pub company... But they Don't leave you hanging... They provide so much more on top of what the college offers to help you pass...

I just signed with The College Network because they take care of a lot of annoying asspects of paper work for you. I know they are more expensive than going to a college but it is a convience and we all know that is expensive anyway. I checked these people out thoroughly with Indiana State University and they are legite. In fact ISU recommended them to me so that I could get some pre-recs out of the way and get started in the LPN to BSN program. I am enrolled and on my way now. I am also taking some of the classes at my local community college because I just can't see myself testing out of statistics lol. Either way we go with our educations, someone else is going to make some money lol. So far I have found nothing bad about The College Network, only stuff I hear on this board that I really question the intent of the replier or thread starter. I guess it all depends on what you want personally and the steps you are willing to take. I am willing to take this step to get it over with and go on with my career.

They couldn't help you with enough paperwork to make it worth paying what they charge. And the paperwork you have with Excelsior isn't that bad, anyway, though I'm sure the sales rep's for College Network will tell you otherwise.

I don't remember TCN helping with paperwork or enrollment stuff with ISU. I still had to apply to ISU and be accepted...TCN had nothing to do with that process. If you do your TCN study guides properly, you may save time getting your pre-reqs done, but that's all you save, you certainly don't cut down on any paperwork and you don't save any money. Its just as expensive as taking the class thru ISU, more expensive then your local community college.

Ok...I am confused. When I did the math, the RN schools in my area were tens of thousands more for me to attend. I have to start with pre-reqs. I too am glad to hear good experiences because tomorrow is my last day to cancel! I don't like contracting things, but I've got 5 years to pay them off.

Also, have any of you finished the pre-reqs and moved into the Excelsior portion yet?

Everyone has their option about College network but I personally do not feel like they are needed. Its just another added expense to the EC program. I went through EC without College Network and Spent $8000. You will find that once you get finished with the EC test and start preparing for the CPNE, that your cost will elevate because you will have to buy supplies and you will probably want to attend a workshop or two. I ended up buying all the Nursing Concept modules for College Network off EBAY. I paid about $30-38 per module and sold them back on EBAY so I didn't lose any money. If I were you, I would cancel your contract and Look up "College Network" on Ebay and buy the modules for pennies on the dollar. There is really no comparison "$40-$50 per module or go with college Network and pay $495 per module. Also I was under the New Curriculum and bought the old Nursing Concept modules and did fine.

Finally, someone with something positive to say about TCN. Thanks for not making me feel like a moron for signing up with them. I signed up with them a few months ago and haven't not had any issues. Yeah, I know it's more expensive, yeah, I know I didn't have to buy the books and could have gotten them online through eBay and yeah, I know some people feel they need the whole classroom expereince but I've done online work before, it works for me. It's nice to see someone else has had an ok experience so far.

I signed up with the TCN as well, and they have been very supportive in answering all my questions, and guiding me through the process, I have taken several online classes and after finishing a four year nursing program only to be terminated because of not passing the schools exit exam I couldn't fathom spending another dime on a nursing book when I have all of them already, plus TCN is financing everything for me too, which EC told me they don't do, so I did it for convienence and a little peace of mind, I am already well over $100,000 in debt from the school that terminated me, what's another $10,000, at least now I can do it at my own pace, and the material in the study guides is stuff I already know, I haven't taken an nursing exam yet, but I don't have any doubt that I can and will be successful...if it weren't for that impossible hesi exit exam I would have my BSN right now..:nurse:

For every person who says they have a positive experience with TCN, there are more than likely seven who say they didn't. Like with most things that have a price, let the buyer beware.

Which program are you planning on doing? EC or ISU? Because of course you realize that ISU does ATI (similar to HESI) and EC has that CPNE at the end right? :)

i just recently signed up with tcn for the modules and rn classes through excelsior. part of me is sorry i did,..... and other part says no i can do it. currently an lpn. i like the convience of the classes... as far as cost: show me a college that is less than 10,000 to go from lpn to rn............. i think it will be ok. will be taking my first test in few weeks. hate sitting in classrooms. best part is not repeating the a &p, psych, nutrition, human growth.... all those since its been 10 years since i took them
