Nursing Students Online Learning

All of the good and bad...i want to hear it ALL...trying to make up my mind..my bestest friend just signed her life away with them.

You can probably buy BOTH the College Network study guides AND Chancellor's study guides for the nursing concepts guides off eBay for less than if you would have if you signed a contract with College Network to just get their guides only. I bought both Chancellor's and College Network guides off of eBay and did exactly that. Got A's and B's on all my exams.

College Network is expensive if you buy the guides directly thru them. I'd recommend, if possible, for example if you are going to finish your degree thru ISU, getting a transcript evaluation thru ISU first, then tracking down the study guides you need. And you need to be really motivated to complete the guides and take the tests. I thought I was motivated enough, and now I'm just stuck with a big loan I'm trying to pay off! And truly, check out Ebay for your guides if you decide to go with TCN. I sold most of mine on there, the most anyone paid was $80, but thru TCN it was at least 2x, if not 3x, that price. And I also found most of the pre-reqs I needed were offered online thru ISU (except for a couple), so it was easier for me to take them thru ISU: I still had the convenience of online classes, so I could do the work on my time, but I had deadlines that I had to meet, which apparently I need. I would think hard, and be honest with yourself, before you decide to go this route. Make sure you can be self-motivating, don't waste your money if you can't be! Okay, I'm done now...

Hey,

Have you completed Nursing 106 or any of the other Nursing courses through ISU yet? I am enrolled at ISU, but haven't applied yet for the nursing program. I have to complete Microbiology first. I would like to have a connection that is going through the same program. Get back to me.

Thanks.

Hi,

What nursing courses have you completed for them so far? I would be interested in hearing how they went.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have completed a few of the nursing courses thru ISU, but at the moment I need to take the clinical portion before I can go further, and so at this point I'm taking a break from ISU. I took statistics, Nursing 300, Nursing 318, and nursing 322. At this point I'm out of steam and money! But they went well, I found the instructors to be accessible, and fair. And the online aspect worked perfectly for me.

What is ISU? I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.

Disregard, I just found out the answer to my previous post question

I just signed up to do the lpn-bsn bridge. I am glad to hear that it is worth it if you stick with it. I hope I can be self motivated enough to get through it...

I do have a question though... does anyone know if there is a rule for the exams?? Like if my sister wants to use my study guides to take the exams, and we split the price for the college network, is there a way that we could get in trouble??

I hope this works out!!

Thanks!

Hmm, now I would LOVE to know the answer to this question....

Anyone??

Are we saying here that you don't have to enroll in TCN OR EC right away? If you have the material (shared persay) then you can test and the credit will go towards EC? I know you don't have to enroll in EC until you hit Nursing Concepts 3. But before that - you can still complete the necessary classes and apply it towards your EC degree?

FYI - They also have a new policy effective Jan 2007 - if you are already and LPN/LVN you don't have to take NC2! :w00t:

Can someone please tell me how much they paid, totally, for their BSN degree from ISU and using TCN? I'd really like to know before I go any further financially (I've already spent about $2600 on study guides from TCN)

Here is the breakdown that I know about

They go by phases and there are 3 of them

The first phase depends on how many courses you need

Phase 1

Number of Classes X $445 = ??

This mean from $0 - $11125

Don't forget the CLEP testing fees $0 - $3155

Then they mandate you take there NCLEX prep course $495

Phase 2

Which according to ISU they have exclusive rights too the media for these course (I have this in writing from ISU). Basiclly means to me that you must go throught College Network for these 4 classes.

$2500

Phase 3

Fees = $2794

Tutition = $9240

So it could be from $ 15029 to as much as $29309 + Books on both sides

There another line of money that is unknown and not included, and these are the books for the ISU portion of the education

Yeah, thanks for the breakdown. I think I might be able to go cheaper at one of the local universities. But thanks for the info.
